    Sorry to ask what may be a silly question, but can anyone explain the whole nitro thing? I hear it mentioned often but don't know anything other than the foam on some stands causes something bad! Enlighten me please!

    I'm glad I didn't know about not mixing cabs. Done it all my life. Well, all my bass life any way. The sound when I use a TE cab loaded with an Epifani 10" paired with a TCE 2X8 is orgasmic. Similarly 12" BF with a 15" BF. 15" Bugera in a TE box paired with a TE 2X10 also sounds amazing. Suck it and see is always my advice. What you hear, what you like is the only thing that matters. Remember unless there's a bassist in the audience no one but you really cares.

    Definitely think about Barefaced. I run two of their 15s and they deep, moving bottom end is massive. As @Lozz196@Lozz196 also says can't go far wrong with Ashdown amps.

    I have owned two Eden amps, one of which is in a combo. An 8X10 combo! They are outstanding but heavy. The tone controls seemed more responsive than anything else I have ever played through. Not tried any of their later stuff.

    Absolutely. The set I bought were expensive (everything's relative of course) which is why I got them second hand. That little sheet shank is the business.

    Very kind of you. Have to say I doubt I'll make anything like the most of it either! But @Quatschmacher has a couple of patches which are exactly what I've always wanted and those alone will make it a great toy.

    They are open but.... the normal slick service is stumbling. I was told my order would be late as one item was missing. Then told the order would be sent in two parts because one item was out of stock - but not the same item as previously missing. I emailed to ask if I could swap the now out of stock item for a different, more in stock item, but I seem to have broken them.

    Thread resurrection: Shame on you lot telling the OP to just 'buy another string' ! This is my kind of thing; inventive, creative, ecologically aware, and above all cheap. Oh and it saved me yesterday. Set of second hand strings, one already cut too short. Guy I bought them from too tiresome to talk to so I needed a cunning solution and here it is. Thank you @tommorichards (if you still exist)

    OK. So I've just finished reading the Future Compact thread. First of all I have to take my hat off to @GisserD - amazing work. However I also feel like a time traveller from the middle ages. 3D printing??? No clue what that might mean. Printing bring 2D by its very nature. Even ignoring this, the prospect of buying a pedal for £200 then a different box (made by some kind of sorcery) ripping the guts out of the pedal and hoping to get it all back together again in a box with less space to work in and with my dubious skillset is terryfying. I haven't even bought the pedal and I just broke out into a cold sweat!

    I didn't know that I loved Elites until I asked what was on a bass I'd bought. Loved the strings so much I had to know. Stadium Elites. The flats they make are amazing too.

    Thanks man, thought I was going bonkers. 1982 Aria Pro 2, Chickenbacker and one of my Harley B's can't stand flats of any brand! Go figure!
