  1. SOLD PRICE DROP TO £230 that's over two Trace Elliot watts to the pound. Ever decide to sell something only to get a sick feeling inside when you get to it? Never understand why folk don't just keep the darn thing. Well in my case it's because I spent the money already. So here goes. Trace Elliot AH500X in used, gigged and worn cosmetic condition. But still able to do the job it was made for. Loud fan which has a quiet setting for those worried about such things. White caps missing from Graphic on/off and Mid cut controls, both work fine (see video) Heavy. I will post it but it won't be cheap. Socially distant pick up is available. So what's under the bonnet? Two Trace Elliot 250 watt amps. Doesn't sound much does it? Ever heard a single 250 watt Trace kicking it out? Trust me you won't forget hearing two. You can use both inputs and run them into their own speaker systems. You can use both amps with an internal crossover and send the upper frequency to a small cab and the lower to a big un. This how I use it. Each output is individually adjustable and it is a thing of wonder. Alternatively select mono bridged and put that GP 11 MK5 preamp through them together. 2. It's like looking at a tree that's all roots
  3. Unquestionably the best live video I've ever seen. I adore this band and all the other work the members do. They are not just fabulous musicians but they are funny humble and got to MSG through their own hard work and not the money of a record company. The genius of this is getting a musician to film it. Oh and having him on stage of course! So glad you're enjoying it @Barking Spiders and I'm so sorry for those who don't enjoy it.
  4. Oh mah gad. If I'm excited and it's not even my bass, you must be tap dancing down there
  5. Bugger the logo - how does she sound, how do you find the neck?

Slotted the Ashdown into my main rig in place of the 2x8 and I noticed an immediate difference in quality. That BF 15 always paired nicely with the BF 12 I used to have and it seems equally at home with the Ashdown.
  7. But he'd need a mirror on the stage to read it and it would all be back to front. Unless he held his bass upside down 😯
  8. Oooh, exciting times. Welcome to the club.
  9. Never ever thought of putting a set list there. Genius
  10. 👷‍♂️
  11. This thread working in beautiful tandem with my Bruce Foxton thread has had me attacking any bass not quick enough to run with a .88 mm Jim Dunlop. Mainly Jam stuff. It has been a pleasant evening.
  12. Oh man. If I wasn't married already...
  13. Agreed. I just looked at Start vid and he is using a semi with a real Maccaesque thump tone. Guess as it's a nod towards taxman he thought he'd go the whole hog!
  14. Bought a packet of strings from Nick at a fair price. They arrived well packaged and very quickly. Nick was polite and friendly to talk to. Made it an all round painless and smooth transaction. Happy to recommend
  15. All in the fingers I suppose 😅😅
  16. On which Jam tracks did Bruce Foxton use a Rickenbacker (or his copy)?
  17. Yes! I am amazed at how much I altered my usual set up, there was zings, there were clangs, there were fresh, percussive, in your face rattles and clacks. Wonder why it suits this bass so much. I mean, it's not like the bass history books aren't full of finger style Ric players.
  18. Where do churches advertise for musicians? I confess I didn't realise they did until reading this. Nor that they paid. I suppose if I thought about it at all I assumed it was exclusively an American phenomenon and in any case musicians would be drawn from the congregation. I'm intrigued.
  19. A gem.
  20. This statement is indubitably correct. There really is no way Marmite can be considered rank.
  21. From what I've seen so far the current set up strikes a good balance. The pedal controls are as you say making broad changes without subtlety. But that's great when you first get the pedal. You can actually alter sounds straight away, before getting to grips with the software. Also at some gigs the sound that works in rehearsal just doesn't on stage. A quick shift of a parameter can fix this. Make it more complicated and that becomes tricky.
  22. Never felt I got the best out of this until today. And you know what? All I did was use a pick. Insane the difference it made. I only just started learning to play with a pick, and thank goodness I've overcome that particular prejudice.
