  1. Yes! It only becomes a covers band when all the songs (or realistically 90%) of the songs are covers. If the set list is 2 hours of material all original bar 3 or 4 covers then you are legally entitled to call it an originals band. I can prove this to three decimal places using a Kerplunk game and two washing up bowls.
  2. What a great set up. I use two like this and can promise no bass player will ever need anything more. Good luck with your recovery and with the sale.
  3. Anyone attending have an Elf? Would like to have a go through one.
  4. Attendance & Gear List: 1. @Frank Blank‘s Partially Acoustic Corner - Godin A4, Rob Allen Mouse, ACG Harlot SC, Ibanez SRC6, QSC K12.2, Helix Stomp, HX Edit. 2. @Rich's Garden Of Delights - Shuker custom 5, Tanglewood acoustic 4, EBS Neo 2x12 & probable new amp (tbc) - both basses strung with nickel Elixirs. Possibly some FS stuff, details tbc once it hits the paid Marketplace. 3. @wrinkleygit, Jabba’s Semi Hollow Fretless, ‘72 Gibson EB0, SWR Working Mans 10 combo & 1x10 ext cab & a set of h’phones. Both basses strung with Labella flats 4. @scrumpymike Setting aside a bunch of FS stuff to give SW Bashers first shot and minimise packing and shipping work/costs. Unless cash flow dictates earlier sale, this will include: a couple of BF cabs (either SC Gen 3s or Two10s, to be decided); BF One10; Maruszczyk Elwood 30" scale; Spector Bantam if still unsold (already posted FS); Eden WT550 if still unsold (already posted FS); Ampeg PF800. 'Keepers' also on display will be: the other pair of BF cabs; my no. 1 gig bass 'Rascal Mervyn-Lyte; 'Rascal Lyte Mkll - provided I can decide what it's going to be in time for AndyJr to build it; my no 1 gig amp (Subway 800+); my old no 1 gig amp (Genzler Magellan 800). All of which will hopefully bring forward the day when Mrs Scrumpy can finally join her old man in retirement 😁 5. @Pea Turgh My Frankenstein Jazzguarman(!) strung with D’Addario XL Chrome flats. My black bitsa (same strings). Probably my Peterson combo which I’ll flit between selling and not selling (still). 6. @stevie Ibanex SR1200-VNF, Ashdown RM500, BCbass 112, plus some other bass cab developments (probably) 7. @yorks5stringer Gretsch Electromatic, Markbass CMD101 Micro Marcus Miller 8. @Andyjr1515 Not yet sure what I will be bringing except my athletic physique and chiselled good looks (and if you believe that.... ) 9.@stewblack Trace Elliot Rig of Death. Ric inspired 'tributes' various amps and basses for sale unless they shift here first. A hernia (probably). 10. 11. 12. 13. 14.
  5. Oh wait, its active? Good job I'm unlikely ever to grow up
  6. Part of the problem for me is that the band I play it in doesn't rehearse so the drummer and I are learning to play together in public. Some songs that's fine, but for others it needs to be a bit tighter
  7. At the moment I've not gigged the whole thing. I'm not playing venues with full PA at present, those days seem to be behind me for now. But you never know. I'd need a bit of time and a willing engineer but it would be fun. For the sake of portability I may start off just gigging with two Barefaced compacts and my Trace Elliot AH500x as that has two amps in the one box and does all the crossover business for me.
  8. That white stuff may be chewing gum, the spearmint sets beautifully hard and doesnt colour the sound the same way as the wriggly's double mint.
  9. Precisely my thoughts. I'm gonna get a sandberg when i grow up
  10. Hmmm, good point. What if I promise not to hit any of them too hard?
  11. Guess what? They now want me to sing one of the harmony lines to it at the same time. I have one of the verses down and it's a joy to play.
  12. How about my new Harley Benton not really a faker but haters gonna say it is?
  13. Fancy a bit of old purple light Trace Elliot Biamped loveliness?
  14. Unless I transposed my recording the E flat seems to fit the original...
  15. As I work through it now, I realise I've also been suffering from Bass Players Drift. It's a condition affecting musicians when they play a song for a long period of time without listening to the original material. Also when playing a song only sporadically and without rehearsal. In case A) the line alters incrementally without anyone noticing until years later what one might swear is the original line has morphed into something quite different. In case B) relying on memory alone when the BL chucks the song unexpectedly into the mix the bassist blunders about findning an approximation of the line. Parts of this 'best guess' line become muscle memory and a whole new part is born
  16. You sure it wasn't picking up @TheGreek and his girlfriend ? (Ooops sorry just remembered it's Mick not Dave)
  17. As the original. I learned the bassline from this https://basslessons.be/transcriptions.php?i=2 Not 100% but pretty darned close. Now I revisit it i see the bass echoes the melody beautifully in the chorus and I'm definitely going to learn it all.
  18. Yeah I do it. I had to learn it in a hurry so quickly sussed the first pattern (once through the chord pattern) and thought I'll get away with repeating this and improvising around it for one gig. Then I'll learn the rest. BL chops and changes set so often I never got round to learning the rest but I must it's a wonderful line. Sadly the song itself feels limp and flat when we play it live. Sometimes you just don't get under the skin of a tune.
  19. Blimey, I think I'll take the pictures down, you lot were more excited when you couldn't see it 😂😂😂😂 🤔 😩😩😩😩
  20. I shall, its in a mates house right now but I'll go get it
  21. I have one like this in the same orange fluffy case. No maker's name anywhere, thru neck stereo jack sockets. Might it be a Matsumoku? You have me wondering now. 🤔
  22. There's one of these in my future. But just not right now. Sadly.
