Ah but it isn't for us. It's for them. I have never once played Valerie without people rush up to dance. No matter how dead the gig, they get up. Similarly Sweet Child. Those opening notes are like crack to them. I have passed through to a blissful place where I just love playing music for its own sake. It doesn't matter a bit to me what the song is. I think it's age. I went through a couple of years convinced that I was washed up, couldn't get a gig for love nor money. So when I landed a dep job playing stuff by bands I thought were the absolute pits, I didn't care.. Just so grateful to be making music with people. An epiphany if you like.

Especially as the singer would turn up late. And the guitarist would go to the wrong pub.

Okey doke. Its not a big deal as I was probably going to drop a Retrovibe pup or two in there anyway. And the one I used actually sounds fine

Hi, feeling just a little bit smug having correctly diagnosed and fixed a fault with my semi acoustic bass. Less smug about having taken the whole thing apart which I really didn't need to do. Anyway it's back in one piece with functioning pups. My question is can anything be done with the broken pup? Are they repairable?

BL just started deleting gigs from our diary. I'll cope but she's a single parent who literally sings for her supper.

Good man

Don't know if what I feel is the result of ocd. But it does give me the willies. Looks like that poor little BF might just fold up 😮 Bet it sounds great though.

One of my favourite things about being a musician is the drive home. Largely because of this!

The crazy cheapness of these units illustrated by the fact that a rack case costs the same or more!

I thought that. Thanks Phil.

Technical question coming in at numptie level, aimed at boffin level. I have a a Trace Elliot AH500X which I like to use biamped mode. The internal crossover does a perfect job and I like the results. Can one buy a crossover (something boxed for external use) which would enable me to do this with any two heads of my choice? Is it as simple as plugging into one of these?

Does look nice doesn't it? Amazing how much a pickguard changes a bass.

I use fast fret and a duster -
Oh wait - I get it. Leave it with me

I feel I needed to be better prepared for this question. Erm. What?

Yep. Working on modes and minor scales. -

Watching that was like having sex. A long, drawn out, torturous procedure ending in a predictable and disappointingly brief eruption. -
No this is Midsomer Norton, it was rammed. Until most of them staggered off to find kebabs. My band mates who live in posh cities like Bath and Oxford were aghast at all the close contact and sharing of bodily fluids.

That looks really neat. Not familiar with those cabs.

Technically speaking my gig was tonight not last night. Early start as the punters had been hard at it all day gambling on the outcome of horses running with little people sat on them. The human detritus left by the time we were in full swing did not give a hoot for live music. Still, got paid and home in bed before 11. I'll take that. I used my Trace in biamp mode. Two ten with horn on top, fifteen below. Best on stage sound I can remember having. I guess the height, being able to adjust the volume levels going into each cab and the inherent Trace magic, combined with those Detroit Flats on my Bass Centre P just came together to create a perfect storm. I keep vascilating between TE and SVT as the greatest thing ever. I guess they're equal but just very different beasts.

Landed a real peach of a dep slot at a festival end of May. Hope its not cancelled. Pub today was packed. I will survive as there is food in the house but I'll be skint if gigs get cancelled
