EDIT : No longer for sale. OK this amp was made in Korea and has been extensively rebuilt by our very own @basstone who I am sure will be happy to bring anyone up to speed on the improvements he has made. ith a heavy heart I have accepted that as I get older and weaker this amp remains the same weight. So here's your opportunity to own what my tech describes as The Ferrari Of Bass Amps. I mention my tech because he just completed a thorough service including replacing a set of three power valves. I have paperwork detailing all his hard work. So why sell when I just spent well north of 200 quid getting her in shape? Like I said, old age and a bad back. Also I figure this is as saleable as it can be right now. Nothing sounds close to this amp. Nothing. It isn't even a sound as such it's more of an experience. My singer summed it up best by saying it was like hot bass sauce had be squeezed over and throughout the room. Never too loud, always everywhere. I can't believe I'm selling it really, but at least I can say I owned one. Couple of scuffs to the tolex which I've pictured but it's what is inside that matters. Price includes me driving to meet you. Won't say I'll drive anywhere but I'm up for going a fair old way.

I bought Bruce Thomas sig from @Kevsy71 and it came loaded with Stadium Elites. I love the subtle, warm nuanced sound of flatwound strings (dull? thud? absolutely not) but as @chris_b says its the sound you achieve that matters not how you achieve it. The sound and feel of the Elites is fabulous.

That's the weirdest thing ever. It had an extra string and no headstock!

Just what I was thinking

Never known Thomann be inaccurate with a description. Don't know what weight of the instrument is but the total weight of package (according to the shipping note) is 5kg. So can't be that heavy.

What are you listening to right now?

Mccaffertys Irish Bar, Bicester. Not absolutely from hell, but... No vehicular access, no car park. Extremely busy area with on street parking but seldom a space. My technique is to circle the centre until someone exits a takeaway then grab their space. However far from the venue. Then walk. Oh and it's always raining too. Can't explain that bit. So I have a one lift rig for that gig. Everything on sack trucks, gig bag on my back. Then you get in the venue and the 'stage' is a postage stamp sized corner with nowhere to leave cases. (see also Whelan's Uxbridge and Flan O'Brians in Bath. What is it with Irish themed pubs?)

Depends on your chosen definition of cheap.
-
Thank you.

Cheers Frank. In the past I've only needed the longest ones but since I decided buying basses was cheaper than replacing strings I've now discovered the red silky bit comes over the nut on some of them.
-
How do you ascertain the scale length of your bass ?
-
Cool Thanks.
-
How do you work out what length strings you need?
-
fixed it for you

I well remember having to leave a beloved band Each of the goodbye gigs left a very bitter sweet taste. Good luck for the future mate.

Oh no they don't

Bloke who sold it told me it was made by Chowny but I suspect its a standard AliExpress 4005. I've heard all the horror stories but the neck is straight, finish is great, pickups a little weak maybe but sounded fine to me last night.

One of my favourite places to play last night. No stage, no lighting, squashed in a corner by the door to the toilets, in a pub supposedly in a very rough part of town . But you know what? The people are just great. No pretensions, always welcoming and up for a good time. Sure they will join in on the mic at unexpected moments (a small child even joined in on the keys at one point) and yell at you for their favourite songs irrespective of your planned set list. But if you roll with it, you can have a brilliant night. Compulsory rig shot..

I think we're straying from the important points here. These are, in no particular order: prettiness, heft, and, well actually that's it.
-
Perfect solution. Thank you for your consideration.

Yes I am, you gonna come and watch?

I'm new to reading and writing music, had some lessons a while back with a great tutor but been doing it on my own since. I'll be following with interest.
