  1. Too modest. Your version is less mainstream, sure, but really really good. Inventive and very well played.
  2. I wondered whether to mention it but in fairness the picture I shared here which clearly showed the problem was one he had sent to me. It was there in plain sight and I still sent the cash. Anyway it plays like a dream. I've not put it down since it arrived
  3. This is so true. I'm reminded of a similar discovery I made in the world of photography. To squeeze a little more quality the leap was from a £300 lens to a £1400 lens. And I often go out with a £300 lens on the front of a camera which cost half the price of my 'best' camera because I find the combination more comfortable to use and prefer the photographs produced. I'm putting together an album of prints for my daughter and guess what? A layman would be hard pressed to pick out the camera phone snaps from those taken with an expensive camera. All of this is analogous to bass guitar. Does the instrument feel comfortable to you? If you have more than one which one do you find you reach for most often? Which combination of bass and amp pleases you most? Price isn't quite the same as value. With photography, the more expensive camera will produce better large prints which under close scrutiny will stand out in an exhibition. Similarly a bass assembled with more expensive components will often produce noticibly better results on a recording which can be studied more carefully. As with so much in life subjectivity rules!
  4. Occupying my time in my usual productive manner. Going to be a bunch of fun when the TPM arrives. Meanwhile I'm messing with different ideas.
  5. I have a Seymour Duncan pick up I had considered bunging in but so far I like what I'm hearing
  6. So black tuners headstock and strings yes? What about the pup poles?
  7. So... Mr funkle... all eyes are on you.
  8. I was amazed. Assumed after market bodge job but no.
  9. What's that? Picture? OK OK here you are
  10. Well, she's arrived. Via Hermes (terrifying) and yet not in Hermes usual self assembly pack. Thank you all for spotting the deliberate mistake I was mentally prepared and got straight to work. Neck seemed to be in the right place, snugly in its pocket and wasn't squiggly shaped which I like in a neck. So to the bridge. Not only was it in the original factory drilled holes and the appropriate size, but was soundly fitted. However, it was pink torpedo eyed to the tune of a whole 8th of an inch and fitted a similar distance too low. I filled the holes, redrilled and shifted it. Players like a dream. Light as a feather and a nice growl. Flats to come next.
  11. I like the feel of flats on a P bass but once I heard them recorded... oh goodness me.
  12. Just finished an afternoon recording a bass part for a couple of friends. Gave them the option of flats or rounds and they opted for flats. Realised that I'd never recorded with flatwounds before, and what a revelation! The best recorded bass sound I've ever enjoyed. So hard to put into words but it had an organic authenticity, and a fundamental thick rubbery satisfying sound. Great day. Used my B3 for a touch of compression and an amp sim and the engineer was pleasantly surprised with results. As I was myself.
  13. Oh. Um mine did. Sorry not helping.
  14. The provided adaptor into an ordinary 13 amp extension lead looped through handle of the amp to reduce weight.
  15. I've powered mine via usb for the last few gigs, it's been fine.
  16. No problem, the other one I have is black rosewood. I'm not a maple board kind of guy!
  17. Here's one with comparison bass alongside
  18. Even better as I gig regularly in Swindon
  19. Stop it. You can't drop the price like that. That's just malicious.
  20. Looks like I dodged a bullet not bidding on these. I have a TE 2X10 in the collection already so a second 1 10 isn't strictly speaking necessary. But hey, who's counting?
