  1. I switched to 5 string 10 - 15 years ago. Loved it. Enjoyed the challenge of learning something new, but still familiar. Stayed with the 5 for a few years in various bands but one day I just switched back. The 4 felt more comfortable, more natural. Also I suspected that learning the 5 was kind of a distraction from studying the 4. I was a very long way from a deep understanding of my instrument and I made up my mind to learn more of the 4 before considering other disciplines. Happy with my choice, hope you'll be happy with yours.
  2. Bought a pedal from Chris. First class Basschatter a pleasure to deal with.

  7. Seriously that article should bve required reading for all us valve users: " Don’t use it as a “beer break” switch. For short breaks, simply turn down the volume control (or mute switch if you have one) and don’t use the standby switch, so there is not that nasty pop in the house sound system that could damage speaker drivers. If the time between sound check and performing is longer than 20 minutes, turn the amplifier completely off. You only need 5 minutes at the most to completely warm up a tube amplifier. "
  8. Intrigued I researched the thing and this is very very interesting https://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/articles/great-standby-switch-myth/
  9. Thanks for that Bill. I'd not heard this before. I was under the impression i had to warm them before I could risk turning on hence the 'pre-heat' button

  12. Guys, I downloaded the manual for my CTM100 but it doesn't tell me how long to warm the tubes before I hit the on switch. Any advice?
  13. In my opinion he sounds wise, sensible and a thoroughly good man. If I had a brother like that I'd try always to follow his advice.
