  1. Because we enjoy sharing the things we love with others. Its a basic part of human life.
  2. Someone else has pointed this out to me farther up the thread. Explains why I was so blown away by how authentic a 'facsimile' it was. What still surprises me is there's no fuss made about the presence of the tube on the amp itself. These days manufacturers have tiny windows cut into the fascia so we can watch the little thing glow. Or at the very least a picture of a valve and the word tube somewhere prominently displayed. Makes me like Ashdown even more.
  3. @Bobby D I love the idea of lying them down and stacking them. Damn that would be so cool. I tip my hat to you sir, a man after my own heart.
  4. Be fascinated to try this. My dream of cycling, fully laden, to gigs gets ever closer
  5. Come on now, we've all had a few drinks, let's not spoil it for the bride and groom.
  6. I'm sure someone revived one of those bridges here recently...
  7. Thank you so much for sharing @Quatschmacher. I can't afford the pedal but your patches still put a smile on my face
  8. I met Neil in a layby in classic BC fashion where we talked basses and noodled through a battery powered amp. He bought a Westone from me and was a joy to deal with. Great comms, flexible and helpful as my erratic plans kept changing and the money was real. Recommended.
  9. Flats on that would sound so smooooooth...
  10. Totally a keeper. The moment I played it I was a fan. Balance, weight, lovely neck and such a round thumping P Bass tone. Really hot pickups, easily mistaken for an active bass. Just a quality instrument. I've never played a Fodera or a 4 grand boutique bass but I have played some pretty good Fenders and Maruszczyk instruments and the profile sits comfortably with them.
  11. It might be hard for people to get used to...
  12. Played a pretty empty football club last night. But those who were there enjoyed it. And we worked hard and got people dancing which I regard as 'the job'. I'd spent the day playing with various configurations of pedals, planned out an outrageous two amp set up, just because. Then left the pedal board at home and of course being the PA guy I had no time to set up my gear anyway so went with the tried and tested Trace/Barefaced combination.
  13. That may have to be my new stage name
  14. I don't have this one but I have the Bruce Thomas Profile bass from the Bass Centre and it's a sublime instrument. That does look gorgeous though, look forward to your review
  15. Tim bought an amp from me. Excellent Basschatter, prompt payment, great comms. Thanks Tim, happy to recommend you to all who sail in the good ship Basschat
  16. Sometimes a review leaves me wishing I'd been there. Like this one ☝️
  17. Mark sold me a Markbass pedal which arrived beautifully packaged, on time and his communication was excellent throughout. Thanks again Mark happy to recommend you to everyone here.
  18. Two gigs of three done. Couldn't imagine a greater contrast. Last night a big venue virtually empty but those there polite and friendly. Thursday a packed pub seething with drunkeness and violence. Tonight a football club. Who knows what that will be like. It's a fun little run because it's not only three different towns but three different bands too. Took my Harley Benton with me to the barracks town where the worst of the fighting took place and while it was a good choice for its robustness its a little heavy for close quarters hand to hand combat. Tonight I'll go with something lighter so if I need to I can get a faster swing.
  19. Hey @stevie what did you stick on the handle? And to what end?
