  1. Only one way. Purely in the interest of science. You owe it to science. TO SCIENCE
  2. So I decided rather than throwing it into the dustbin I would repair and rejuvenate my acoustic bass. things didn't go quite to plan, for many reasons chief among which is that I didn't bother finding out what and how I should do before I started filing drilling sawing hammering etc. The action is almost playable now, nowhere near as much risk of anybody mistaking this fine instrument for something more usually seen at an Olympic archery event. However the piezo pick up is producing some interesting results, specifically it can detect the E and D strings and indeed produces quite a pleasant sound. However, when I play the A and D strings it seems a little more reluctant to have anything to do with the whole performance. Ideas? I did nothing other than remove it and wonder what it was and then replace it.
  3. One of us is going to have to buy up some of these caps and find out what works
  4. Not my picture yer honour. I got it off the ad I bought the amp from. Honest guvnor. I would never use it like that. Don't hate me
  5. I'm also considering running it in stereo mode, two matching stacks either side of the kit....
  6. It's a monster as is so I can't imagine it with four cabs.
  7. I have the tc electronic 250. At 8 ohms it has a lovely tone but is too puny to keep up with a full band. Add another 8ohm cab and it is really good. Plenty of thump.
  8. I have this rather splendid UV lit green and black beast in my armoury. I was playing with it today in bi-amp mode. It works rather nicely with the low pass channel sent to a big capable cab and the high pass going to a smaller tweeter equipped cab. The output levels are individually controlled allowing great control over my sound. It also allows me to choose which cabs I put together. If for example I have a 1x10 with a horn which produces lovely upper mids and tops but wouldn't handle big loud bottom end comfortably, I can pair it with something meatier and only ask it to cope with as much as it is happy with. What I would like to know is this : are there two separate amps in there? The back panel suggests two amps both 4ohm. If this is so then in theory could you put this through four 8ohm cabs? Not suggesting that I shall of course, I just wondered.
  9. Nice to meet you. Hope you enjoy whats on offer hereabouts. Just remember we all talk a good bass expert but the real knowledgeable ones are very few 😉
  10. So glad this went well for you, sounds like a great idea. And if you get a band out of it, even better.
  11. Bruce Thomas Profile bass. I'll not sell mine until 2060.
  12. Oh my goodness, it surely was
  13. Good grief if you use this for just one effect it's still a steal at that price.
  14. Half time in a surprisingly busy Sunday night hotel gig. The Groovilium is flowing
  15. Just slung my TE in the car for tonight's gig. It will be atop 2 BF 15" cabs and I can't wait.
  16. Thanks guys. I'll see what she wants to do.
  17. A friend took up the bass and now wants to move on. Asked me how much she might get for her gear. I don't even know what the bass is! If you know what it is could you let me know. Is the amp worth anything? £50? less? Don't know what to tell her really. Thank you bottom end hive mind
  18. Bought a pedal from Nick and he is a really great guy to deal with. Showed me proof of postage, got it off to me really quickly, beautifully packaged and in precisely the condition advertised. Make no mistake, this is a man you can deal with. Highly recommended.
  19. There's a lovely Chowny winks at me every time I go in my local music shop. I've resisted so far but they are really nice.
  20. Bought an expression pedal to expand the horizons of my Zoom B3. Any ideas for its uses? I can plug it in, make it go up and down.
  21. Thank you! I'm none the wiser as to where mine originated but it's lovely to look at and once I've played it in and set it up to my tastes it'll be a keeper!
  22. I will perform with literally any instrument regardless of the monetary value. If you like it, it plays well, looks and feels right why change any of it? I often choose so called lesser basses for gigs over big name ones simply because I enjoy using them. At the end of the day whether playing for fun or a living music should always be a joy. The bronco gives you joy. I'd say that's a win.
