  1. Bandeoke residency in Bristol last night. Crazy busy, crowd right in the mood, only played Valerie three times as well which was a bonus. I really enjoy these gigs. The barrier between audience and performers is totally broken down. You know that guy ? The one at every gig who comes up and yells 'play Wonderwall'? Well instead of shaking your head and saying sorry mate it's not on the set list and continuing with your prog ska interpretation of My White Bicycle to the understandable derision of the crowd, you just say yes mate, of course, get up here and sing it with us. People feel invested, part of the evening, and we have no clue what we'll be asked to play (except Valerie of course) which keeps us fresh.
  2. The flanger. You think bass + flanger and this is what you're thinking.
  3. I don't actively like anything in the Christmas song genre, but I don't have to like a tune to earn money playing it, so it's all good . The Wham one is probably my favourite because it's really simple so I've never had to learn it or even listen to the original.
  4. I've had a busy December gigging with various bands and accompanied by a disgusting cold. Last night we were in a very odd, labarinthine place made up of many small nooks and booths on at least four different levels. We were crammed into a rather pleasant but tiny corner and I ended up sat like a Jackanory narrator in a luxurious armchair. It was heaven. So exhausted from my germ ridden life on the road I got to recline and play in comfort. Also my ears were in perfect proximity to the bass cabs so I could hear just how good it sounded. I used the Demon FX D7K Ultra as a preamp and played my Reverend Triad bass on the middle pickup. It was glorious.
  5. You can't go wrong. They're great pedals, really well made too.
  6. Zoom B6 or the B2 Four. So simple to use, all the bass sounds you could ever need. No need for computers, you can do it all on the pedal
  7. I just regret not going for the double one now...
  8. Ok @thisisswanbon you sold me on the JPTR FX Jive. Especially as it's very reasonably priced right now at £89.
  9. I've just realised the problem with this thread - it's creating multiple gas leaks.
  10. 😂
  11. Ah jesus man, like this wasn't mouthwatering enough.
  12. It's a shame we're not closer we could've met up and had a comparison jam. I should add I do have some BF cabs (and have played extensively through many different brands over the years) and to my ears the TE Elf cabs are comfortably as good as any and better than most.
  13. No, I've never had the pleasure of trying BF 1x10s.
  14. I regret every bass I have lusted after and not bought, and every one I've sold. However I haven't bought a new one since October, so it feels like I've given up. I haven't of course.
  15. This. I take extra pleasure from a favourite also being inexpensive. Of course I don't save anything because I've usually spent a small fortune on more expensive pedals before realising that the cheap one does the job I'm after.
  16. After years of buying pedals, with shelves and drawers overflowing, multiple boards and power supplies, I have come to a realisation. I've actually got some favourites at long last. Not many but I'll show you mine if you show me yours. So, by category, here we go. Flanger. First time I played through it I heard the exact sound I had in my head. First time I gigged it, the whole song was transformed. Envelope Filter. A YouTube demo comparing this and several others sold me on the EBS. Man I love how easy it is to get exactly the right sound and it works so well in the mix. Octave. All the octaves you could ever need. Accurate and clean or rich and synthy, this pedal also has fuzz and phaser and is a work of genius. Compressor. I've been through an absolute ton of these, some do nothing, some break my sound, some are great, but this is the best. So childishly simple to use and to get exactly what I want from it. A budget miracle. Chorus. I thought I'd found my chorus (Ampeg Liquifier) but it just wasn't quite 100%. Then on a whim I splashed out on this. First gig I tried it and I just knew. Perfect. Again the sound I hear in my head. I'm still entirely at sea with regards to distortion, fuzz, autowah, multi effects, phaser, synth, preamp and others. I have preferences in every department but I'm not there yet.
  17. These are the Demon FX pedals I know of ..
  18. My goodness. Someone is going to get an amazing rig for an incredibly good price. I don't need it but if it wasn't the wrong side of the country I'd have it anyway!
  19. Wonderful news. Congratulations.
  20. You'll have to wait till I get up
  21. I play this very bass. It's a real head turner.
  22. Even though I own several, I'm turned off by P J pick up arrangement on a bass. Makes absolutely no sense at all. Not least because it doesn't always apply. Black body with dotted maple finger board is a no no, but block inlays are fine 🤷🏻‍♂️
  23. I used to employ a V1 1000 watt Terror into two 15" MB cabs. That master level actually looks pretty high to me 😂
  24. Small but perfectly formed for this evening in Bristol. Bruce Thomas Profile into Veyron M, two magical 10" Elves pumping into the room.
  25. Sorry I missed this reply. I'll send you a pm
