  1. +1 for Avon Ply. Good people to deal with and good workmanship.
  2. Spencer is a gentleman, a man of his word and prepared to put himself out for a fellow baschatter. He drove a long way out of town to meet me half way and hand deliver a bass which is not merely a thing of beauty but is exactly as he described it. Deal with absolute confidence.
  3. She is very lovely, I hope she finds a good home.
  4. Don't sell her. You clearly still love her. You can work something out.
  5. That seller is Advantage Music and they also have some flats at a tenner a pack! But I can't vouch for them although I'm happy to try them out, here's a link to the ones I bought EDIT: that tenner is an auction sorry to mislead the forum.
  6. He played bass once. But he's not truly one of us. I wouldn't want him burning in a wicker man before the day was out.
  7. Happy to report that the eBay seller posted a replacement string 1st class without any quibbles. Would buy these flats from him again - no hesitation.
  8. Think I might ask £150 for mine seeing the speed this went at!!
  9. Interested in posting this? Or is that too risky for all concerned?
  10. Oooooooh! For those vicarious carpenters and avid build diary readers out there, a live show would excite a near pornographic fervour. And encourage orders of more than a few flat packs too I shouldn't wonder.
  11. I like the idea of the gold leaf it carries the right message but vinyl is an interesting alternative. I am however still keen to learn how folk paint their planks.
  12. I've had a quixotic plan to buy a black and gold bass for no other reason than a band I dep for have it as their colour scheme and I thought it would amuse them if I turn up not just dressed appropriately but also sporting a gold bass with black scratch plate. The bass centre Blockhead bass was my first choice then I spotted a gorgeous Matzcxzr Mazsursck Polish made bass here but dithered and was pipped at the post. Sober reflection has made me realise that I was about to spend silly money on what is really a bit of fun. So it dawned on me - how about I paint one of my crappy old basses myself? Which of course brought me here to ask the advice of the expert bass hive mind. I know literally nothing about preparing or painting an instrument so don't be afraid of insulting my intelligence. That really would be difficult to do. I'm after a glitzy shiny ott gold.
  13. I like it. Sadly a 6 hour round trip to try it is probably too much. If your band is touring the west country any time soon please let me know, we could meet up 😀
  14. Best thread ever. Even my mum is laughing aloud as I read it to her.
  15. Just finished reading this entire thread and it was fascinating. Definitely interested if the flat pack idea is revived. Will the cab be making an appearance at the SW bash?
  16. Not heard of this before, sorry if it's old hat but might help someone on a tight budget Best to ignore the revolting comments from his 'fans' though.
  17. You aren't planning to head any distance down the M4/ M3 any time soon are you? I've been looking for this bass without realising it existed.
  18. I moved house recently so give me a couple of days to get to it and find my camera!
  19. Had a great time putting this little combo through its paces and it sounded fine. Lots of flexibility in the sound, huge volume, and he got a bargain considering the perfect condition and vinyl cover. Going to take one of my cabs over next time to see how it behaves with 2 15s . Not a bad little amp at all, if heavy.
