Had an issue with my Veyron last night. Every time the compressor kicked in it did so with a loud noise. A sharp 'crack'. Turned off and two things happened. One, the noise stopped, two the volume increased - enormously.
I had it set quite timidly (about 20 to) I thought so was surprised at both issues.
NYE pub gig. All good. Friendly drunk crowd, three sets including a couple of new songs, got paid, everyone happy.
Used a biamped rig because, well why not? Bugera beast handled bottom and low mids via the TE cabs and the TC Electronic handled mids and tops. Split the effects from the Ampero. Sounded massive.
Putting together a board for new year's eve. Running parallel effects out of the Ampero to two separate amps.
Just because.
The Ricochet is to drop the pitch a tone for one song.
They have a good choice of comps. From the simple one button squasher to the more complex multi control style.
I think they work very well but I've never used the Cali so can't compare.
Incredibly loud drummer, big room too. And a six string noise merchant. They are astonishingly loud, tight and not lacking in bottom end.
Oh and no PA support.
I know exactly what you mean. I can't gig Markbass since my MB head stopped working at a dep gig. Like you I always have a back up so the gig wasn't screwed, and I know it's irrational many many people gig MB gear without a hitch, but I can't .
I originally wanted two of the 208s. I liked the idea of the taller, narrower stack.
However now I've gigged the two 10" cabs I'm more than happy with them.
Played a private party on Saturday in a barn in Somerset. They had somehow created enough heat in there to keep us from freezing and despite a coughing singer and flu ridden drummer we kept them up and dancing.
Then last night had a Bandeoke in Wantage which was loud, fun and occasionally hilarious with some excruciating 'singers' who couldn't carry a tune in a bucket nor could they remain in time.
At present I only have three more gigs this year but so many bands are cancelling due to the lurgy we may get lucky and pick up some more.
I love a bargain it's true. It's also true I will buy multiple iterations of cheap items eventually spending more than the tried and tested brand would've cost me.
But I suppose a lot depends upon where the thrill is. If it's in the chase, the journey, rather than the kill, the destination, then there is value in the hunt itself.
I've learned that price is the single most misleading factor in bass quality. Largely because it's so utterly subjective. Bloke A couldn't care less about certain elements that bloke B considers of absolutely paramount importance.
My top 5 basses include a few retailing easily for in excess of a thousand pounds but also the cheapest Harley Benton I've ever bought.
I must say the budget basses I've tried have been substantially better made than the ones I started out on back in the day.
I was spoiled by going straight to an Aria from my Kay but the memory of that early 'instrument' lives with me still.
Yes. I thought so. Gear 4 Music do a nice blue one too. It's in their own cheap range but not their absolute cheapest.
Seems the budget manufacturers are beginning to see other gaps in the market.
No clue if Glarry are even playable but you know me...
