  1. Oh. Well I am rather pleased with results I've achieved.
  2. Erm. Thank you? (Who is MDP please?)
  3. Long term project, no rush, make the odd dent or scrape every now and again. It is a PB50-SB body I acquired unexpectedly. A HB jazz neck I always liked but found the body too heavy. Didn't like the remodel on the headstock done by previous owner. So I hacked the headstock even further, bunged the neck on, and voila! It was unplayable. I've heard talk of shimming, never been much of a shimmer myself, but in for a penny. So I shimmed. Can't recall what I used but when I threw it all back together it was perfect. Literally. Action, intonation, all of it. The gear gods were smiling down on me. Oh, it even sounded good. But the body was pristine. Spotless and shiny. I didn't want it that way. Never relic'd anything before so I was a little nervous as I raised the lump hammer for the first time, but it produced a very satisfying and above all believable dent. Once that was out of the way I felt happier proceeding. Anyway, here's the first pic. Headstock. Having already been altered I had little to play with, hence the shape isn't perfect. It was also too clean by a long way so once I'd applied and torn a fake decal I used a match and then a soldering iron. I also recommend a mismatched set of strings for that much used look. More pics to follow.
  4. What's the story with the pick ups? I notice they're different from those in the videos. Is it just a newer (or older) model?
  5. That's really kind. I wish someone would do YouTube videos I learn best that way but anything visual is helpful. Otherwise I've a really expensive high quality pedal board sat doing literally nothing!
  6. Well, having seen these I now want to make some! But I have a fret wrap coming from Thomann some time next week if that counts.
  7. They come up very reasonably sometimes. Good luck.
  8. I like the Boss SY-1 very much. It has a lot of sounds to choose from and is very easy to use.
  9. If you are planning to go in ears, I believe this to be an indispensable piece of equipment. Seriously.
  10. Gigged my SX last night. Yes, they are very good.
  11. Surely the fastest purchase to performance!
  12. Bought a fretless bass (from a Basschatter) in a supermarket carpark enroute to a gig and played it at the gig. Good job it worked 🤣
  13. Gigged mine for the first time on Sunday and it plays really well. Funnily enough I had to tap a couple of frets home too, and noticed a couple of buzzy moments at the gig. I have to agree with you about the neck @such - it is sublime. Looks and feels real quality.
  14. A Sunday early evening Bandeoke for me this weekend. A pub in somewhere called Wantage 🤷‍♂️. First time there, booked despite the landlord being somewhat sceptical, and it went down a storm. Another one on the list.
  15. Don't disregard the Joyo Splinter. People are beginning to realise Joyo pedals are very reasonably priced rather than cheap.
  16. I prefer it than the original white for sure!
  17. My bass tutor has decided I'm ready to listen to this. Never heard the band before - I was still into glam rock when this came out, dallying with Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple and not quite ready for punk (but I had a couple of years to get to my teens before that broke), but boy am I ready now. More for the bass and drums than the solos, but it's still a great listen
  18. I got mine second hand for the price of a pedal. It's soo worth the money. I put it through a single Barefaced and did a full band rehearsal with it.
  19. I used to assume the G&L headstock was a mistake, like they accidentally used some experimental melty wood. But then I saw one in the flesh and it's actually a beautiful instrument. A similar thing happened here.
  20. I can attest to the utter splendidness of this. I have the X10 now. It caters for all my needs. Even found some dirt and autowah tucked away in the menu. Buy with complete confidence in the seller and the kit!
