  1. If that's what they're called then absolutely
  2. I have the American and the Californian and I've gigged with both as pre-amps. They're very, very good.
  3. How there can be any debate after this video beggars belief. I guess if people have a lot of money and credibility invested in the tonewood myth they feel they have to keep digging. More dignified to admit they've been wrong all along.
  4. When I struggle to get to sleep I distract myself with an alphabetical puzzle. At present I'm trying to go A-Z (or A-Z if you're American) with names of musical acts where the name is preceded by a name and the words 'and the'. Frinstance: A could be Elvis Costello and the Attractions, or Adam and the Ants. B could be Ian Dury and the Blockheads, C might be Kid Creole and the Coconuts. I'm not making a lot of headway beyond G and thought it might be fun to throw it out as a game everyone can play. And you'll be helping me get some kip too.
  5. Annoying ads? Anything I want that costs more than I have in the bank.
  6. The Joyo Ironman range is incredibly robust, very well designed and sound absolutely superb. Being (relatively) inexpensive is anything but a negative where they're concerned.
  7. Well done! I've used him he's very good
  8. Rehearsed my JJ this week, gig it on Saturday. Can't wait.
  9. Any one use Apple software to control the X18? Drummer has an iPhone wondering which app to download
  10. Blue JJ arrived today. Plays as nicely as the PJ. Looks lovely. I'm really a P pick-up guy at heart, J pups seem a little gutless in comparison, but in a band context they often excel. Anyway another HB triumph.
  11. I gigged one regularly - back when I gigged regularly - and it's plenty loud. A fantastic piece of kit.
  12. Not at all! I think it looks fantastic. I won't ever pay that much for a bass, but the shape and colours are great
  13. Hilarious how even experienced musicians believe there is a right and a wrong way to get a bass sound. There is no such thing as the right bass sound. And therefore no right way to achieve it.
  14. I loved Dire Straits. First three albums at least. But that wasn't my point. Popular had become bland, manufactured, and safe. Oasis and the rest of their ilk brought it back. It goes in phases, or at least it did. I don't know what popular music sounds like any more
  15. It seems we must disagree. I hope the forum can cope.
  16. The gap between the strings I assume. So middle is my guess.
  17. Well, I use oasis as an example to signify the return of guitar pop rather than suggest they were the best band ever However compared to simply red they were genius
  18. I love the Joyo amp, mine is sat on a 1x10 but those TCE cabs look great. Are they 2x8s?
  19. For me The 80s started really well, by 84 it had begun to be very slim pickings and almost nothing of note from 85 onwards. Music started again with Oasis. These are obviously broad brush strokes.
  20. Apologies I was responding to your offer to try not looking to buy right now
