So I bricked my HX FX. Tried everything the internet suggests but it won't come on. I ran it on a non Line 6 Power Supply (a Diago 3 amp 9v) at practice and it was fine. Now it won't start at all. I've checked the power supply (the proper one) and it's delivering the juice, but the box sits inert. No lights nothing. So before I turn it into an ornament (and monument to my stupidity) is there any suggestion anyone can make?

EDIT DO NOT TRY THIS. I HAVE BRICKED MY HX FX BY THINKING I WAS CLEVER. DON'T BE LIKE ME.

You just can't beat Trace Elliot.

When I started to dabble in effects, I asked a similar question. The recommendation was to go with a Zoom pedal as it was an affordable, giggable platform which would introduce me to the ins and outs of such gear. I did this, and it was an excellent decision. The B1Four has external volume and tone controls which makes it even better than the Zooms I started on. Are they any good? Well put it this way, I have bought hundreds of stomp boxes, a TC Electronic Plethora, a Helix Stomp, and an HX FX since and I still own and use three Zoom multi pedals.

Quite a lot of angst online about the power supply for my HX FX. And it is awful. Ungainly, awkward on some extension leads, prone to fall apart and the socket in the unit doesn't accept the 'normal' 9v plugs. I have a simple solution. This is what you want. I use a Diago power supply which delivers 3 amps. It runs HX FX, three stomp boxes, and a TC Electronic Plethora.

Seems to be out of stock everywhere I've looked. For the price of two 'fancy' stomp boxes, this looks and sounds like a heck of a thing. I've always loved Zoom multi pedals. For whatever reason I've taken to their operating system very naturally, always found them simple to adjust on the fly, easy to play with.

So... anyone bought one?

Stop it.

The VT Bass uses the same (9volts) and only draws 100ma so they will both run off the same supply - but you'll need a daisy chain cable with minimum two plugs.

It sounds like a great pedal idea, just a little expensive for what it does. I'd almost certainly get one if it came up second hand.

I've heard back from Raygun, they do test before despatch, a replacement is en route and a return being organised.

Yeah, could be. It's different for many pedals. I believe some have a low cut and mid boost, but certainly not all

Nice! I had the HX Stomp with the extra footswitch, but traded for the HX Effects. Poor eyesight made the tiny screen unreadable. I like to look down and see what each pedal is!

I've not used that pedal, but I've stuck pedals into an Ampeg CL and not done any damage. My guess is it's that amp it emulates. I've resisted the pedal because I have the amp it emulates. But it's so reasonably priced it's a tough call

The only weakness I can see is the lack of bass content. He did one show where the message was, stick a graphic after the pedal and boost the low end. But surely the low end isn't there to be boosted if the guitar pedal has sucked it out 🤔

He's a brilliant broadcaster, obviously a complete pedal geek, and by featuring all pedals not just his own, has produced a wonderful show. I love his humour and the way he shares his knowledge. Not a half bad musician either.

Favourite speaker size 10, 12 or 15 or something else?

I saw the thread title and immediately thought, easy, 2 fifteens. Then I thought how much I love my old 8 ten cab. And I have an Ashdown set up with 2 twelves which is righteous. My regular gigging rig features a twelve and a fifteen. So I guess I just don't have a favourite
