  1. This must be why the SY-1 is to be found so cheap second hand now. Might get another one.
  2. I confess to being unimpressed by any band that soundchecks, is happy with the levels, but later tells me to turn down based on a complaint of one member of the audience. However, trying to argue this point with the BL during the performance was unprofessional of me. I had such a magnificent bass sound that night as well.
  3. We were just chatting about this pedal the other day. Rare as hen's teeth. Sadly I'm skint right now, but it won't be here long
  4. When I ran a music venue a bad drummer would bring down the whole band. The audience probably couldn't tell you why they didn't like the band, but on the occasions the drummer wasn't up to scratch, they always reacted negatively. Being a bassist I seemed to be the only person who noticed this. A good drummer makes our lives easier but more importantly makes the band better.
  5. Made it to its first board. Robotalk, Bass sweeper and Octave in the effects loop of the LC, with the Gilmando phaser following everything. So gnarly!
  6. I want the Success 2. Looks really cool. Especially with geranium transistors.
  7. Fabulous pedal. On my 'never to be sold' list.
  8. So, UPS have been playing silly burgers with a pedal I bought over a week ago on the BC marketplace. The tracking showed 'out for delivery' all week last week, then yesterday switched back to 'label printed' (the first stage of their delivery process). Their help page is hopeless (basically says get in touch with the sender) and the guy I bought it from hasn't been here for a few days. So...I'm kind of stuck. If they have lost it it's a real shame as it's an unusual pedal, but on the bright side I've been trading here for many, many years and this has never happened before.
  9. That's, um, a good thing. Right?
  10. Best is the Sandberg jazz I bought from Frank. Worst probably a bunch of Fender pedals all of which are much more suitable for a guitar.
  11. I believe Bad Penny put some shots up as they were making it. Let me see. Quite happy to whip the back off though
  12. Going to be a while, but it gets pretty filthy I have discovered that much!
  13. I'm treating it like many different pedals and learning them one at a time!
  14. It's so beautiful. Pedal as a work of art. It is pretty seismic.
  15. Back in the days of innocence and wealth I decided to ask the chaps at Bad Penny FX to make me a super duper bass fuzz with clean blend, boosts, tone shaping, effects loop and anything else they had space for. They readily agreed and began to draw up plans. Then plague settled on the land and everything went haywire. Anyway, today, the eagle has landed. Sound samples and review to follow, but of course no pics means it never happened, so here are some quick snaps.
  16. When I first started messing with effects a couple of years ago I bought and sold pedals on a whim. I realise now that I have parted with some excellent pedals simply because I didn't understand how to use them, how to get the best from them. So I've started to put that straight. First to return is the Boss Dynamic Wah AW-3. I realise now that you really can't go far wrong with Boss, or their affordable Behringer clones. They just pack much into a solid, useable box. This pedal also stops me gagging for the Seamoon Funk Machine. The main feature of which is a down filter. The down mode here is excellent. It's easy to control and in the mix it's just so darned fonky. I particularly like the vowel sounds available, and the autowah function is so wet, it's filthy. Haven't even tried it with an expression pedal yet! I'll get some sound samples up soon
  17. OK, I was going to share the patch using tonelib but I have installed the cheeky zoom hack and now tonelib doesn't recognise all of the effects. So here goes. 1: Dynamic Drive 2: Bass Pitch 3: MonoSynth 4: A-Filter 5: Dirty Gate Which put all together and recording directly from the pedal into Audacity, sounds like this
  18. We all have our proclivities
  19. As I say, I thought the review was positive. Where Thomann beat the competition is their stuff is perfectly playable straight out of the box.
  20. Ah, thank you. Break The Machine was the only UK stockist I found and they're out of stock
