  1. It is very similar indeed. However the neck from it is going onto a different bass with the frets still in it! Then I am transforming it with an upside down lefty neck I acquired and doing something unspeakable to the body. At some point.
  2. Ha! I am getting an Enhanced next week, been after one of the expensive basses for a while. I have resisted the Marquess range and would love a BZ4000. Otherwise I have most of them.
  3. Bought a bass from Lawrie, and what a smashing chap he is. Communication was spot on throughout, the instrument was as described, and very fairly priced. A pleasure to meet him and to do business with him. I happily recommend this most excellent Basschatter to the community
  4. This debate comes up every now and then. I don't think it's ever been resolved. I guess it is as you say down to our individual attitudes. I depped for a wedding band, well paid work, wanted to do a good job. A good (expensive at least) amp blew on me in the sound check. If I had no spare they'd not be in a hurry to ask me back. Even a poorly paid pub gig is much more fun if I can still play should something break. No fun at all if I have to stand and watch.
  5. I have my Lidl sack trucks from many years ago. They show no signs of failing but a second set can't hurt
  6. I provide the pa for one of my bands, a digital desk. Make sure I have a spare tablet and the singer always has a small analogue desk as a just in case We'd look very silly if the desk failed and we didn't.
  7. I tried so hard to do this in a new band a couple of years ago. It leaks out, you can't help it, it's who you are
  8. I have the pa bag. It's mine. It's full of every conceivable cable and adaptor. It gets tidied regularly, but never split into two bags.
  9. Just bought a wireless set up from Martin. Very fairly priced, well packaged, exactly as described and the communication was excellent. A pleasure to deal with him and I'm more than happy to recommend him as a seller.
  10. Ooh yes. I'm in bed right now though so you gotta wait.
  11. It's all straight again now, I could bend it back and take a snap ......
  12. That is filth. Pure unadulterated filth. I think I'm in love.
  13. I've been gassing for one of these for a while now. Let one slip through my fingers once and it haunts me.
  14. Well, not much of a tale really, more an example of my broken brain, but hey ho. Got a new HB to scratch a fretless itch without having to save. Changed strings (not because I don't like the HB strings, I do) but the replacements altered the set up. So out came the Allen keys . I suffered a major brain fart, tightening and tightening and tightening - convinced it would be right soon. I shredded a couple of Allen keys and still I soldiered on. I stopped, bewildered and exhausted. Took out my straight edge and, well, basically I had bent the neck way back the wrong way. I don't need telling how dopey I am (but feel free of course) what I'm really here to say is this. If you wonder whether the woods and components of HB basses are of a poor quality then think again. This neck ought not to have survived my heavy handed bodgery. Seriously. But it has gone back to a perfect relief, the truss rod still functions fine and it plays beautifully. It was £144 new.
