  1. I would expect to pay several times as much to get a bass of comparable quality.
  2. It did. It's in my Harley Benton collection. I would say I'll contact you if I sell it on, but I'm never selling this. It is of astonishing quality.
  3. One of my most favouritist things is meeting Basschatters. I've done it in car parks, lay-bys, service stations, cafe carparks, village halls and pubs. Today I met Gaf at his, well, at his gaff. I bought a bass from him, and he proved to be every bit as smashing as you could hope him to be. I can't praise or thank him enough for waiting while my sketchy finances finally got sorted, then having me rearrange our date at short notice. He was politeness personified and I happily commend him to our community.
  4. I guess we're in the midst of great technological change and these debates will be commonplace until things settle down. Personally I doubt I'll ever find a band who like the bass to sound how I like it regardless of how I get my sound. If I'm lucky enough to get back to playing big stages with decent sound engineering front and side stage then my sound and set up will be entirely for my own benefit. As such I'll use whatever amp and cabs give me the most joy.
  5. Just watching Bass The World's review. Being a filter junkie this is on my shopping list.
  6. You go for it @bigthumb. You'll be saving me and getting a great bass
  7. A lot of my wishlist basses coming up at once lately. I need to be strong. 😬
  8. Very happy with the Labellas on my fretless. Seem to have the appropriate amount of schmwam woorp I like.
  9. It is very similar indeed. However the neck from it is going onto a different bass with the frets still in it! Then I am transforming it with an upside down lefty neck I acquired and doing something unspeakable to the body. At some point.
  10. Ha! I am getting an Enhanced next week, been after one of the expensive basses for a while. I have resisted the Marquess range and would love a BZ4000. Otherwise I have most of them.
  11. Bought a bass from Lawrie, and what a smashing chap he is. Communication was spot on throughout, the instrument was as described, and very fairly priced. A pleasure to meet him and to do business with him. I happily recommend this most excellent Basschatter to the community
  12. This debate comes up every now and then. I don't think it's ever been resolved. I guess it is as you say down to our individual attitudes. I depped for a wedding band, well paid work, wanted to do a good job. A good (expensive at least) amp blew on me in the sound check. If I had no spare they'd not be in a hurry to ask me back. Even a poorly paid pub gig is much more fun if I can still play should something break. No fun at all if I have to stand and watch.
  13. I have my Lidl sack trucks from many years ago. They show no signs of failing but a second set can't hurt
  14. I provide the pa for one of my bands, a digital desk. Make sure I have a spare tablet and the singer always has a small analogue desk as a just in case We'd look very silly if the desk failed and we didn't.
  15. I tried so hard to do this in a new band a couple of years ago. It leaks out, you can't help it, it's who you are
