I've ended up with the Fender Downtown Express. Which I've used for a straight to pa rehearsal and it performed admirably. The OD isn't quite to my taste but all else is ace

Looks the dog's doesn't it? I have to say an FX loop should be standard. On any preamp pedal.
  3. I am much more concerned the organisers may be out of pocket. Happy to contribute to a whip round if this is the case
  4. Mike and his family work so hard to bring this event to fruition. Without them I would spend another day typing conversations with distant strangers here on Basschat. Instead I got to meet some of those people in real three dimensional life. I got to geek out about pedals with people who care about them like I do. I got to share stories, to sit and eat wonderful food with folk who felt like old friends within minutes of striking up a conversation. I got to try instruments I'd never seen or heard of, to show off a couple of mine and to compare the dimensions of two tiny amps with men who care as much as I do about such things. This didn't happen by magic. It happened through hard work, an awful lot of time and dedication from @scrumpymike and his family. You made my day, and I am truly grateful.
  5. What's this do then? Intrigued by a pedal I don't know!
  6. I love my Boss Synth. I have come to realise that the ball ache of using a computer to alter a sound is a huge stumbling block for me Also the individual context of a band or room always calls for changing on the fly. If this is an SY1 but with saveable, easily changeable presets, then I'm in. £280 new. Hmm.

  8. Unfortunately mine has had over half that much spent on a full refurb so I'm hoping to get a bit more back.

  10. I'm coming, as is my singer (and bass student) Jo. One vegan, one voracious omnivore. I'm on the list

    Great review, thank you.
  12. But seriously folks..a more controllable boost with excellent tone controls is the Joyo Rated Boost from their Ironman range.
  13. It is a big boost. That much I can definitely say. I can't tell you how touch sensitive it is. It's not made it back to the house yet 🙄
  14. Hmmm, I will have a rummage. Almost certainly have a case, an effect pedal of some description, let me look see.
  15. Bought a cheap phaser. Nearly. The eBay shop sent an entirely different pedal which I kept in exchange for them sending me a fiver back. Its one of these and I was shocked by how well it turned my pretty, but bland, Cort bass into an active beast. The drive control also adds as good a low gain break up as I've ever heard. Cheapest way I know to transform your bass without tools.
