@Quatschmacher thanks but I was too slow there, they've gone!
It's annoying because the shop selling them is only a few miles from where I live. Next time!
@RedEarth A rough but pretty bang on costing method for importing gear is (item cost + shipping) + 25%
Example:
£1000 bass + £100 shipping = £1100
£1100 + 25% (£275) = £1375
This would allow for Import Duty, VAT and any handling charges added on.
There are threads and threads on this subject but the formula above is well mentioned and will give you a good pointer as to what will be likely added on.
GLWTS @johnythefox
My old Fender American Standard P bass from 1998 is the one for me.
Feck knows why I sold it, a moment of madness for sure. I sold it via The Bass Gallery on a commission sale.
If you have it and fancy selling it back to me I would appreciate that please!
@FDC484950 / All - I could very much be wrong, but, that commodity code you quote shows as Musical Instrument Cases - Click here for that page,
Here's a link to the electric guitars page (at 2% Import Duty rate) - 9207.90.1000
Could well be this.
I had a P bass that rattled up by the nut/1st fret area and it turned out to be the truss rod.
Don't know about the 12th fret area though, sorry.
