1. I'm after a nice gig bag too and would like to hear people's user opinions on the above mentioned. Cheers, Jon
2. What flat wound strings are best for through body stringing? I ask as I've read somewhere (and now can't find -d'oh!) that flats can pull apart/separate over the saddles because of the tight break angle. Would half rounds be the answer, anyone done this? Regards, Jon
3. Sounds to me like there's some chorus effect on his sound...
4.
I'm looking to try out some flatwounds for some recording I have coming up. I play in a punk band mainly with pick, any recommendations? Cheers.
You can try some Tomastik Infeld (TI) jazz flats, none finer IME. I had a set on a P bass and it nailed that London Calling bass sound! Regards, Jon
5.
I have a PJ equipped Warwick Streamer and a PJ equipped Fender and I have to say that it is my favourite combinations of pups available. I've not tried the basses you mention but I can only assume that the duff tone is down to that particular bass with those particular manufacturers pups in it!
+1 to all that. My P bass with Seymour Duncan PJ pickups sounds great
6. If it all looks ship shape when you view it then go for it.
7. Hello All, Oh dear! I've been a naughty boy and seem to have aquired this USA Bob Glaub! Better pics when I get a chance but here's the monster! Cheers, Jon
8.
I`m sure I seen a wireless ariel on the right side of his rig as you look at him...
PM and the guitarists were using Shure wireless gear
9.
This is what makes me laugh about Digital systems.... there is far more consumer kit operating on these frequencies than analogue equipment. There are also a lot of other inherent problems with Digital systems such as drop out.... when they do have interference they completely drop off, unlike analogue. Also can you physically switch frequencies... I don't think so. Battery life is normally very poor... though these stage clix systems are aimed at the amateur market rather than pro I guess it's not so much an issue.
+1 to all that Crez
10. My concern with this kit is its operating frequency of 2.4GHz. While being legal worldwide some other uses for this frequency range (2.4 to 2483.5 GHz) are: Wireless computer networks (WiFi), RF tags (RFID), Bluetooth short-range links, video links, wireless microphones, microwave ovens, movement detectors, industrial control and monitoring which are all pretty common. IMO I would avoid wireless kit in this range as it's just too much of a minefield to depend on. Regards, JTB.
11. WOW that's stunning Mate, well done. Are you officially GAS-less now?
12. Hi Alex, Thanks for the advice and reassuring my concerns about just swapping driver units over. ATB, JTB.
13.
I see the bass is now sold. Anybody we know?
Not guilty. Anyone on here then?
14. Hi Alex, I've been asked about this P.A. related question, but it's out of my league so if you'd be so kind? The system comprises of 1 x Marshall P.A.400 mixer amp unit along with matching Marshall (6115H) 175W, 1x15 plus horn speakers. They are 8 ohm rated. The amp puts out 200W @ 8 ohm, 300W @ 4 ohm and 400W @ 2 ohm. I mentioned that a pair of 4 ohm Eminence Kappalite 3015's will not only offer the 2 ohm load for the 400W output but they will happily take the 400W all day & night. My concern and question for you is - will the crossover & horn be OK with this change or will they need looking at and possibly changing? Any help mucho appreciated, Regards, Jon.
15. Have a good will bump after that hideous flaming on that other site. ATB, JTB !
16. The SPB-3 is not thin sounding at all, just a scooped mid sound. It's basically a very modern sounding P pickup. It's great for rock, punk, metal, etc. In contrast the A51 in my P bass with flat strings absolutely nails that woody, thumpy P bass sound to a T. It replicates that Clash London Calling sound perfectly. I think it will be fine for what you need...
17.
managed to get hold of mesa boogie diesel RR 2x15 (not shaggy`s one, so there is still one for sale on this site)...
Any pictures?
18. I've had, and used, both and the Wizard A51 is similar sounding to the SPB-3, but with a bit more mid tone than the scooped mid sound from the SPB-3. Also not only is the A51 a nice sounding unit but it's more traditional looking unit than the SD if that matters to you. Good luck, Jon.
19.
It's the Road Ready version of the Powerhouse 1000 cab.
+1 I had to look it up in the first place to make sure. Mesa certainly didn't help by calling the new cab range after an old model
20. Another big +1 for Dave and his Bassic Bits instrument and speaker cables from me. Go for it, you will not be disappointed. Regards, Jon.
21. Not many of these around! See here
22. Hi there, These are popular and good 'uns IME and they're in your budget range: Shure SCL-3 in ear headphones. Regards, JTB
23. Hey Clarky, Nice one on this bass and I wish the 2 of you well in your relationship! ATB, Jon
24.
...and I worry about dropping melted solder on the finish of the bass (although I've not done this yet, thankfully) Soldering sucks!
Just put an old tea towel or T shirt over the bass to protect it Mate...
25. This isn't on eBay but direct from John at Bravewood. Didn't know where else to post this! So, Who was after a Sting looking bass? You could do worse than this one! Bravewood For Sale page Regards, JTB
