Leading on from the above, can someone explain the 1- / 1+ stuff? I haven't had chance to play mine again yet, worked fine so I must have plugged it in right, but the only speakon connector I had before was with my GK rig, which had it's own speakon cable for the bi-amping so never looked into how they're wired.
Inside the Speakon connectors there are terminals for the wire to be clamped into. They are labelled 1+ and 1- in the 2 pole version and 1+, 1-, 2+ and 2- in the 4 pole version. For the setup pictured above it's saying that 1+ and 1- need to be the same core of cable at each end, i.e. the red wire will be clamped into the 1+ socket in each connector end and the black wire will be the 1- at each connector end. Hope that makes sense?
...Just another thought from the photos, have the speakons turned and "clicked in"?
+1 to this comment, looks like the Speakon connectors aren't turned and locked into position. They are not making contact if this is the case. Just turn them to the right so that the silver tab is straight up and you'll here them click into place.
  3.
I heard that every year the production team pick someone who they think will win, and then put loads of effort into making them win and this year it's Olly. They've been right every year so far. Is that total boll*cks?
Who knows? I know as much on you that point. My opinion is that it isn't true though.
  4.
...Sounds interesting about the monitors, but why have them there with all of the moving, etc. I mean, surely they can hide a black box on them somewhere, and they could hear themselves clearer? I dunno!
As most of them haven't even heard of IEM's it's just more trouble than it's worth to fit them all up with them and then opening the can of worms that is getting them used to the sound of the systems... Believe me we have tried in previous years! Another element why not is that they all have a bodypack transmitter with a lapel mic on, for the talking bits, so by not having an IEM receiver on their person too it eliminates ANY chance of interference issues, any worse wardrobe malfunctions, etc. All crucial points when the live TV show hurtling through with not much time to deal with any cock ups. 5. Chaps, I have to be careful here, but I work at the studios. No bull. The monitors are under black metal grilles at the front, curved edge, of the stage and there's some seriously big speaker boxes flown in the air too. Trust me it's loud and they hear EVERYTHING on stage. JBJ used the monitors, no IEM's, and JLS were on IEM's. Cheers, Jon.
  6. Money no object then this set HERE
  7.
Mesa Boogie Diesel 2x15: Road-ready (flightcased) model, EV loaded, 800W, 4ohm mono or 2x8ohm stereo. Tightest sounding 2x15 I've tried, but rather surplus now I'm DI-ing. £300 if you're interested.
Now there's an offer and a cab! I had the Mesa Boogie Diesel 800W 2x15" once upon a time and it is an awesome bit of kit. The only down side is that it's a 2 person lift so beware of that. Regards, Jon
  8.

Wow, just Wow! Lovely looking stack Monz, well done. Would love to hear that cranked up with a band. Cheers, Jon
  9. I would say hang on a bit longer and get the dough together for a BareFaced Vintage 2x15". My 2 Compacts are stunning together and can only presume the Vintage is the same if not a little better. Cheers, JTB
  10. Unfortunately the whole deal is based on trust. I would say this all sounds pretty legit to me though. As for Customs charges, etc it works like roughly like this: Combine the item cost and shipping cost and the charges applied (Import Duty, VAT & Handling charges) will be about 20% of that total. Don't know if the old 'Gift' option will prevent this charge. Hope that helps? Regards, Jon

Do you think a Puma 1x10/12 combo would work well in conjunction with a BF Compact? That could be a killer lightweight rehearsal & gigging setup for me!
  12. I would urge you to not be a 'tart' and look at all the makes and options available and then save up a bit longer to get exactly what you want if needs be. In the mean time do your homework and try out everything you possibly can to find 'the one'. The amount of buying and selling some people seem to do to get their dream rig normally turns out to just be a frustrating and expensive mission in the end. The problems seem to be that it's a very subjective issue with the added issue of amps sounding very different in shops than they do at the gig or rehearsal. Good luck and keep us posted! Jon
  13. That would look and sound absolutely stunning on a Barefaced Vintage cab IMO!
  14. IME the Badass units just go straight on and work on Fenders. No neck shimming, etc required.

    Sean's Feedback

Just sold a bass to Sean in a very fast and smooth transaction. Thanks Mate and enjoy! All the best, JTB

  17. Thanks for the kind words Chris. Jon.
  18. Now Sold, thanks for looking.
  19. Don't sell the P, you will regret it like you wouldn't believe. I done something similar once and vowed never again!
  20.
I don't understand how any CS Fenders are allowed out if they are not up to top standard ...
I often wonder if it's a case that the not-so-good Custom Shop guitars and basses are exported and the cream of the crop kept in the States?
  21.
Did either of you think of the obvious solution? Give Clarky his maple back and you sell the rosewood, Chris
+1, Could be a good solution chaps?
  22.
These are like SD Quarter Pounders, only better! Big and booming but with a more organic woody tone. Highly recommended
+1 to that Clarky. It's a cracking pickup that will do someone proud, I love my one! Have a bump on me, JTB
  23. Any pictures of the 4x10 cabs yet Monz? JTB
  24.
interested in a trade?
No, sorry. I am in the throws of buying a bass and need the money you see. Cheers, Jon.
  25.
Hi If OU7NER wants to buy the case how much for the bass, I could collect with cash on Tuesday evening ! John
Hi John, Not interested in splitting them I'm afraid, but you could buy both and sell ou7shined the case if you like? Regards, Jon
