1. Now on eBay: Link here If a BC'er wants it I'll happily take it off eBay for you.
2.
I for one would be very self conscious about my standard of playing, also the sound quality is often poor on these things. Beyond proving that the thing works (which I would hope could be taken for granted from the esteemed users of this forum), I don't see that it's of much benefit.
+1 to this. I could only do a video off my mobile, can you imagine the quality of picture and sound
3. I play basses that I like and that I can afford. Is that not the beginning and end of the debate? I could've spent some time to find a cracking Westfield that will do me, but I didn't bother as I was looking at the price range of a good used Fender MIA P bass that offered me what I wanted 'out of the box'. Likewise at the other end of the spectrum I could've looked at Fender Custom Shop/Laklands/Sadowskys/Allevas/etc but they were all out of reach for me finacially so I didn't even bother. So the moral of my story is - get the best you can for you on the budget you have be it £100 or £5,000.
4. TBH I'm after a quick sale on the pair together, sorry Ou7shined. Unless you want to buy the pair and re-sell the bass?
5. Here's my 30th Anniversary Stingray with its' sumptuous figured mahogany body:
6. Now Sold. Thanks for the interest. JTB.
7.
In the past three and a half years, I've bought 44 basses and sold 32 of them again. From a money point of view, this isn't quite as insane as it sounds since I only lost out on four of those sales - or "investments", as I prefer to call them. GAS? I can give it up any time. Any time at all, I tell you. Why are you staring at me like that?
Blimey Happy Jack, is that more than Beedster?
8. Quick update, As said bass is going up for sale soon I decided to fit an electro socket to make it 'match fit' for the new owner! Keep your eyes peeled over the weekend for the ad! Cheers, JTB
9. ...Or Castle Cases. Not so light but absolutely rock solid.
10. Ah Man, G-A-S! I can't afford it sadly but who needs a CS Pino with this available...Clarky
11.
If I can just throw in my tuppenny-worth here, this pickup is in perfect condition (its only a couple of months old) and sounds very like a Seymour Duncan Quarter-Pounder (very beefy and powerful although perhaps fractionally more 'woody'?). So if you like QPs then you should try this as its as-good-if-not-better and its British! jonthebass also has one in his white P-bass ('Sid') and is a big fan
+1 to all that Clarky. Lovely unit for a bit more oomph out of a P. Cheers, JTB
12. If you're interested see HERE They're for sale in Ealing, London. Cheers, JTB P.S. not mine!
13. Not mine but a cracker: Look Here
14. IMO stay away from wireless stuff, just another problem waiting to happen!
15. From Metallica.com's Rob page: Ampeg SVT II amplifiers & Ampeg 8x10 speaker cabinets Mesa Boogie Rectifier amplifiers & Mesa Boogie 4x12 speaker cabinets Morley Power Wah pedals Fernandes bass guitars Zon bass guitars Music Man bass guitars Dean Markley Strings EMG pickups Dunlop FX & products Guess the Mesa Boogie Rectfiers are doing distorted bass duties
16. Some folks have used the Nordy p'up with An East pre-amp to great effect I believe. Never heard it myself...
17.
The norm with valve amps is to use a higher tap, not lower, so a 16 ohm cab would need a 16+ ohm tap. Kind of the opposite of solidstate (non-transformer coupled) amps. Alex
Alex, you've answered a query I had about amp + cab ohm ratings matching. Thank you, todays piece of knowledge learnt! Cheers, Jon.
18. OMG, Matamp GAS again!!! Well done Monz it looks FANTASTIC
19. Is it only me that this sort of thing makes me feel a little angry? I know it's the way of the world and all that, but still
20. Dunno about all time fave but Tim C's sound on RATM's first album is pretty tasty!
21.
late question is the housing meant to be a tight fit in the body? if its coming out then i suspect you may need to make it 'stay' in the hole drilled for it would some epoxy hold it sounds like a desoldering job as well
Hi McCrow, It is indeed meant to be tight in the hole (ooh-er!) Epoxy is something else I've read about as an alternative fix. At the moment the Electrosocket is looking to be my fave option as it screws into the body so will sort this problem out once and for all. Soldering is not a problem for me so not too bothered about de-soldering it to fix it. Cheers, JTB
22. Hey Clarky, Thanks for the link. From a bit more digging it seems an Electrosocket is a good answer to this particular problem. Cheers, Jon.
