Why not go for the Senn?!
I'm with you there! It's stunningly good sounding gear.
Check out the new Metallica album Made with millions or dollars of gear, and it still sounds like sh*t. (I love Metallica, but the production on Death Magnetic is terrible)
In YOUR opinion I think it ain't bad for a year 2008 thrash album! +1 for getting your tunes properly mastered and pressed. It's the icing on the cake and in my case saved a potential disaster (long, long boring story that involves a Guitard!)
bit ott though...
Well, yeah. Just pointing out the top end gear incase coasterbass wasn't aware of it
Technical question.... I spoke to Bettersound, and although its like £40 to hire the kit (fine) they want me to insure it for £8000. This is causing some issues with my insurer. How do other people cover hire equipment? (and how do they work out it costs £8k as well?!?!?!)
I have heard of proof of insurance required before, but don't know how to go about getting it. Sorry to be of no further help.

Hello Simon, Great introduction and nice to meet you. Thanks for your awesome review, I tried the Thunderfunk 750 with Dr.Bass cabs at the last Bass-Bash and they were exactly as you described them. Take care, Cheers, Jon.

Absolute top notch radio mic gear for Vox is the Sennheiser 5000 series with a Neumann capsule. Bettersound are a rental place, As are FX Rentals.

Just seen THIS I just love the line: Sale is open to international buyers. Scammers beware. I have ways of dealing with would-be thieves.

Don't know about worrldwide but here in the UK 2.4 to 2483.5 GHz is licence exempt. Some uses for this this spectrum already are: Wireless computer networks (WiFi), RF tags (RFID), Bluetooth short-range links, video links, wireless microphones, microwave ovens, movement detectors, industrial control and monitoring. IMO I would avoid wireless kit in this range as it's just too much of a minefield. Regards, Jon.
Cracking P p'up? That's an oxymoron, like 'military intelligence', or 'Microsoft Works' - the pickup is what makes the P so awful.
In YOUR opinion!

Mine would be a high end replica of the Sid Vicious P bass. Nice lightweight body wood, dark rosewood fingerboard, nitro finish, TV logo & a cracking P p'up!
True, but I'd have happily paid ten times that to see them do more of the early stuff .... its not like they are in London too often!
Apperently they're due back next year on a world tour proper...don't know if that's true though? P.S. The set list is available HERE for those interested.

+1 about the lead guitar in the mix. I knew it would be a 'different' set list from looking at their tour website and checking out Friday's set list. There was Blackened from AJFA too. Not bad for a fiver though, was it!!!

What about a Sadowsky/A.N.Other pre-amp pedal to add some more oomph? Does wonders for my rig!

Wireless recommendation - some questions also.
Worth mentioning the vocals are wireless and one of the guitars is also (Shure & Sennheiser)... I don't want to get interferance from either. Thanks.
Try and stay at least 2 MHz away from the nearest frequency. i.e. if a guitar is on 854.9MHz and the Vox are on 858.65MHz then around the upper 856MHz area should be OK. It's never too good when different brands of wireless equipment are used in the same room, in close proximity and in the same frequency range. There is no right or wrong answer unfortunately, you will just need to use a trial and error method to get a clean frequency at the gig. Regards, Jon. -
I read on that American forum that they wonder is the name Funk Unlimited (F.U.) maybe a departing dig at Flea from Modulus? What d'ya reckon? Conspiricy theorists of the world unite!!!
I had a US Glaub with and extra J pickup (factory fit) - not a single coil but a stacked humbucker - just like the P pickup - i believe they call it a linear humbucker. Anyway - gorgeous bass - neck was a dream to play with great fretwork - has graphite neck inserts that the Skylines don't have. To my ears you could play on the E and A strings well above the 12th fret and notes were still distinct and not at all fuzzy. Had all the P-bass attributes but with that extra humbucker you could add a nice edge to things if you wanted. I went mad and got rid of it as I wanted something more "aged" - have ordered a Nash 58 P-bass from the States - should arrive in the next few months I hope...... If you like P-basses you'll love a US Glaub. Bill
Hi Bill, Thanks for the feedback. I have heard lots of good things about USA & Korean Laklands. Out of interest where did you order your Nash from? Jon
