I did a BA (Hons) in Counselling, the psychological variety, as a very mature student. Three years hard work but a fantastic experience. But now back on topic.
Interesting results in the poll. S2 romping away in the lead. Not even Kingbass or Streamline coming close. Keep the votes coming in.
It's great to hear such enthusiasm, Rich. Make the most of it. I should have #84 back in my hands next week just in time to take it out on a gig next Saturday. All good reward for my graduation yesterday.

That's a very pretty 2000 you have there matski. Lucky man.
I have a Status S2000 which has no trus rod. When I first took delivery of it there were a set of 30s on it. They were buzzing quite a bit so I put on a set of 35s and no buzz. The heavier strings just pulled the neck a little bit more. Point is that this problem just doesn't happen any more with Statii as they have rods. You have that bit of adjustment. As Crazykiwi said it depends on the manufacturing process. Status necks these days have a more flexible structure which allows for a trus rod.
Well I'm sure some here know my fretless S2, Miss Maple, and my S2000 will be back in my hands sometime next week after it's sebatical at the factory having had a minor oporation. Been missing it. Someday I would love an Electro. The sound would fit the jazz band just fine.
Anyone who thinks that is the work of a 3 piece ..well, words fail me.
Well the last time I counted the members of Muse there were three of them.
In their latter years Pink Floyd were a three piece. Rush are a three piece. So what if Muse were augmented every now and again with a live keyboard player. Most of the time they were not. Level 42 have always augmented their stage shows with sequenced parts. It's still three guys who make the original music.
Spose you can't please all the people all the time.
That was an all graphite Status S2. Don't judge the sound of Status basses by his slap sound. It was pretty horific. Those basses produce a much better sound than came out last night.
I thought the new stuff was a bit lackluster. It hasn't done much for me since I first heard it. That was only in the middle of the set though. The older stuff at the beginning and the end was just fantastic as usual. Seems Chris has seen the light and switched to Status big time. Good for him. Best three piece since Rush.
Simple, but beautiful. Still....must...hold...out...for...a...kingbass!
No Chris, buy it and remove temptation from my gaze. Please!
Must. Not. Buy. Fretless. This is such a beautiful tune mate
Oh, thanks faceman. Go on, buy a fretless. You know you want to. They can just be so expresive.
Well I'm Biased but what about a Status. The phenolic fingerboard can give a different sound. The link below gives you an idea of what it can sound like. This tune was all played on my Status S2 fretless.
Probably a name they come up with so they can sell product through a catalogue company without upsetting mi retailers.
...or Squires are becoming too good?
I'm sure someone will recomend lessons sooner or later. If you don't want to go down that route you could always try Todd Phillips DVDs which would help on your technique.

Regarding EQ, I always roll off as much of the mids as I can which gives a much looser sound. My line goes: instrument mids cut - into MB Superbooster cut mids - into AI Contra with mids rolled off altogether.
I'll second the AI amps. One person described mine as a sensible bass amp. They have a down firing 10" which uses the stage to spread the sound which can be quite big for the size of amp. For bigger gigs I plug in a Markbass 15" cab which can just make the sound enormous. The sound from that rig is so much better than my old Ashdown.
Nice bass Fat Rich. Hope you enjoy playing it. Now will someone please buy the fretless Series II from the Gallery and remove temptation from my site.
Looking forward to your T-bass ahpook

I didn't know Ikea did flatpack mail order brides. I must take a trip down to Gateshead tomorrow and buy one.
