  1. The most amusing thing is that everything after page 1 of this thread has been a complete waste of time. The OP made his decision on page 1.
  2. Good man. Glad to see someone taking their blinkers off. Now, that really is codswallop. Evidence? Steve Lawson's gig at the weekend with artist Poppy Porter. He played, she drew from what she felt from his playing
  3. Only too pleased to oblige (in a non-very-serious kind of way)
  4. I think manufacturers should just stop being lazy and finish the basses properly. Put frets in the neck and that would do away with all this stupid arguing 😄😉
  5. I don't use amps at all. I find I get a perfectly good sound for me through headphones without them. If I played through some external amp I'm sure I'd have to change settings a bit. Anyway it produces some abstract sounds like this.
  6. A fretless bass is not a violin, viola, cello or double bass. Completely different instrument and setup.
  7. Gary Willis Scott Devine Mark Egan Steve Lawson Juan Alderete Marcus Miller (when he plays fretless) and some guy by the name of Jaco They all have one thing in common. Who am I to disagree with them?
  8. Gibson has been in murky financial waters for some years now. I looked through the business acquisitions they have made in the last ten years or so and so many of them are quite a long way from their core business. Spending money they don't have on those and all the legal cases they have tried to fight might not be seen as money well spent.
  9. Somehow just liking that post isn't good enough. Hope the show goes well. I'm sure you'll have a ball.
  10. Having polyphonic octaves would be great. That would free up a send/return.
  11. Maybe second best to playing in Mark Knopfler's band. Boast away. have a good gig.
  12. Helix does not do polyphonic octaves. The octave effects don't come close to any of the POG varieties, be they 2, Micro or Nano. I have the Pitch Fork and Micro POG in a send/return which helps the Helix sound amazing.
  13. Some lovely and very usable filters in 2.50
  14. Heaven - humbucking pickups Hell - single coil pickups (so that rules out F****r [DUCK] )
  15. I find some of the cheaper reverbs have a rather metallic tone. Hall of Fame/HoF has a very warm tone that I've always loved. Even with the HoF you have access to Tone Print so you can tailor the tone to suit you.
  16. I'd recommend the Hall of Fame as well. If you don't want to spend a huge amount have a look at the mini version, HoF Mini. All the benefits of the bigger pedal but cheaper and smaller.
  17. Here's how I've used the filter with a bass. Delay into particle reverb into filter. A wise move. Depends how you want to use octave/pitch effects. I find Helix pitch effects a bit glitchy. They are not polyphonic either if that's what you want. I have Micro POG and Pitch Fork in send/return loops and they work very well with it.
  18. This all brings to mind something my Dad said to me; "You might not like the person but listen to the message". That has stuck with me ever since and makes me look at certain people in a different light.
  19. If you can get yourself to Edinburgh have a word with Chris McIntyre. https://www.mcintyreguitars.com/
