1. I think these steam engines on’t railways are dreadful things. It were far better when we just had horse and cart. Life were just so much better.
2. The words "used to" are the operative words here. That was in the past and in case you haven't noticed the world has moved on quite a way since the 1970s. All that matters is that kids play music. It doesn't matter a hoot where their inspiration comes from. The generation gap can hold a great deal back. Things change and we all have to accept that.
3. "Me too"! "You'll just have to wait" "I can't wait! I want one noowww"!
4. I'd imagine so. Split the signal into stereo, apply a parametric EQ to each side (top end one side, bottom end other) then route each to the right and left outputs and into separate amps. Yes/no anyone?
5. Never thought I'd like a Warwick but it looks so much better as a headless.
6. Thanks. Sonic Youth are a blast from the past
7. As above on quality and sound and everything else. I have four of them, S2 fretless 4, S3 fretted 5, S2000 and Electro 2. All wonderful instruments. The necks are to die for in my opinion. That's what first attracted me to them. Love the shape and feel. The profile on current Status necks is very different to the original Series II/Series 2000. Neck thrus are noted to have quite a bright sparkly tone with bolt-ons having a slightly warmer tone, as told by Mr. Green himself. Difference in sustain between the two is negligible. The Stealth is a different beast again. Moulded graphite with a rigid foam centre. I believe they have a very sparkly tone. They are great instruments and you can buy with confidence. Few regret their purchase and those that do probably can't see past something beginning with F.
8. Mr. Smug with 100%. Kim Gordon nearly caught me out so just guessed. Still don't know who she is or who she plays with. Someone enlighten me.
9. ...and sometimes some people take the internet a little too seriously. These things come up on our recommendations cause click on them. If we didn't click on them YouTube's algorithm would soon give us many other recommendations. That guy seldom comes up on mine but he will now that I have looked at him once. He's good at what he does and a lot of people watch him. He must be doing something right.
10. The OP wrote about wanting better quality pickups in favour of fancy top wood. Well, I can say my Status and Overwater basses have both. Mind you they did cost a bit more than £500. I think they are worth every penny. It is always down to personal taste and who am I to say it's wrong to love a painted Fender. 80% of players can't be wrong. While I love my fancy topped basses there is also something quite special about a plain ash bodied bass. Just the simple clean lines of them look so good.
11. Looking at that list Monty Python's "What have the Romans ever given us" comes to mind.
12. You'll find TI jazz flats at strings direct for £55. If you like that tone then why not try Labella760s. I like quite a dark middy fretless tone and Jazz Flats give that tone on some basses but not on my Overwater. Tried the Labellas on that and it came alive. Good flats are expensive but they last for years with a good tone.
13. Love this stuff. Great playing from you all.
14. Welcome onboard. Why would we want to be anything other than gentle on you? You have clearly made the right choice and you won't regret it. I was about to say that bass players are more open minded but then I remembered 80% of them play fender or fender derived basses [opps, duck, incoming] You also live in Newcastle so you must be OK.
15. You could just drop a couple of small drops of glue into the nut slot so it holds steady.
16. Just had Jon's volume pedal delivered. Professionally packed, sent Saturday arrived Monday. Pedal feels almost as if it has never been used, great condition. Also very patient with my incompetent efforts to post a bank transfer. Deal with confidence.
17. Are you logged in when you try to view it?
18. Does he really think no-one will see it used to be a seven string? Yikes!
19. I’ve been there some years ago. Completely lost interest in the bass for seven years. Kept all my gear though. Just stored it away out of harms way. Then suddenly out of the blue it came back more than ever. That was 16 years ago and still love the instrument. I can only say let life take you where it wants to and don’t fight it. Keep the gear you feel you should and certainly don’t sell up completely. If it’s going to come back it only will when it wants to. You can’t force it.
20. Worth every penny........of someone else's money.
21.
I love my windows phone (I know I am in a minority of one)...
You're not alone. I have a customer who loves his. Plugs his desktop through it for broadband and gets a speed many times faster than his landline.
