1. You'll find TI jazz flats at strings direct for £55. If you like that tone then why not try Labella760s. I like quite a dark middy fretless tone and Jazz Flats give that tone on some basses but not on my Overwater. Tried the Labellas on that and it came alive. Good flats are expensive but they last for years with a good tone.
2. Love this stuff. Great playing from you all.
3. Welcome onboard. Why would we want to be anything other than gentle on you? You have clearly made the right choice and you won't regret it. I was about to say that bass players are more open minded but then I remembered 80% of them play fender or fender derived basses [opps, duck, incoming] You also live in Newcastle so you must be OK.
4. You could just drop a couple of small drops of glue into the nut slot so it holds steady.
5. Just had Jon's volume pedal delivered. Professionally packed, sent Saturday arrived Monday. Pedal feels almost as if it has never been used, great condition. Also very patient with my incompetent efforts to post a bank transfer. Deal with confidence.
6. Are you logged in when you try to view it?
7. Does he really think no-one will see it used to be a seven string? Yikes!
8. I’ve been there some years ago. Completely lost interest in the bass for seven years. Kept all my gear though. Just stored it away out of harms way. Then suddenly out of the blue it came back more than ever. That was 16 years ago and still love the instrument. I can only say let life take you where it wants to and don’t fight it. Keep the gear you feel you should and certainly don’t sell up completely. If it’s going to come back it only will when it wants to. You can’t force it.
9. Pick, anyone? :-D
10. Worth every penny........of someone else's money.
11.
I love my windows phone (I know I am in a minority of one)...
You're not alone. I have a customer who loves his. Plugs his desktop through it for broadband and gets a speed many times faster than his landline.
12. As above. I use iPad for synths (iM1, iProphet etc.), backing tracks (iReal pro) and recording and looping (Cubasis, Loop Tree). There are endless apps in Apple's app store and I'm sure Google Play. However as yours is running Win 10 you might not have access to any decent apps. Every time I look for specific apps in Microsoft's app store there is never anything there. Just this week I read Microsoft are giving up on apps as they couldn't persuade any companies to make apps for their system.
13.
You would use an insert cable on the volume in and out sockets. Voila! Passive expression pedal ahoy. Not a lot of people seem to know this... certainly opens up the amount of expression pedals available to you. (e.g. any volume pedal!)
This person did not know that. Thank you.
14. Here you go https://www.amazon.co.uk/Thomastik-Infeld-Bass-Guitar-Strings-Nickel/dp/B001633DTA/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1505934330&sr=8-15&keywords=thomastik+jazz+flat+bass+string
15. Those machines have been using too much fake tan, much like a lot of real musicians. Nice tune though.
16. I remember one fretless player saying he practised on a fretted bass. OliverBlackman's post explained why that works. Trouble is that fretless player is a guy no-one has ever heard of. Think he called himself Jaco or something like that.
17. Depends on how good you want your playing to be. If you just play as a hobby and are happy with that then maybe not. If you want to work up to pro levels then yes record from time to time. I think most top flight athletes video their performances and use that to fine tune their technique.
18.
I thought these guys were rather good.
He says modestly Nice piece of work Kevin. Lovely relaxed vibe about it. Contrast stands out for me.
19. Good work Dad. No disco beat? We'll get you converted to ambient before you know it.
20. His playing is certainly to my taste and been subscribed to his YT channel for a long time. Haven't heard anything from him in a while. Loved his working of The Enormous Room. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eM-95upzaH4
21. Thanks for letting us know. Schedule set. Dig out your pork pie hat.
22. Necks are not like Ibanez. Bit more body to them but very comfortable.
23. I'll echo everything Wan has said here. I have one and it has a lovely neck on it. Superb value.
