1. That's an Energy and that bass has the board 100 in it. Available from the Status website.
2. If you had a picture of the whole of the instrument it would be easier to tell what kind of pre amp it has. Mr. Green tends to keep specific types of pre amp for specific instruments.
3. It's meant to be the way that's comfortable for you. There is no one setup for every instrument nevermind player. I have one of these as a fiver. Fretwork above the 12th is in need of some attention but other than that setting it up should follow the same rules for every bass. Jason from Fodera recently produced a series of videos on how to set up a bass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgmoRHr2cD8
4. Have a look at the Spectre sound studio videos on youtube and Glenn Fricker will tell you exactly what he thinks of them.
5. Wow! Above and beyond the call of duty. As much attention to detail on the sound samples as you have put into the physical work. Thank you very much. I love the tones when the neck pu is blended in.
6. Stunning work. I love the hatch on the back. You have to look closely to see it. Can we hear what it sounds like?
7. That's why John East was invented. He produces the simplist pre amps to install. Even an electronics dunnderheed like me can put one in.
8. Practice sitting and standing. Who knows what band you'll be playing in in ten years time. might just be a band that requires you sit to play. Be flexible in every part of your playing and then you will fit in with any situation you meet in the future.
9. There's something very satisfying looking at newly polished frets (specially when someone else has done the job). All nice and shiney. This is looking fantastic.
10. Could always do another but it has been done already. https://www.discogs.com/Jaco-Pastorius-Big-Band-Word-Of-Mouth-Revisited/release/1195972
11.
I'm sorry.
And so you should be. Shame on you. I like the music though.
12. Ooooo, that be a bit special, that be. Lucky man.
13. In my experience some flats will sound good on a bass some will not sound good on the same bass. I tried a set of TIs on my Overwater fretless and I wasn't at all happy with the tone. Put a set of La Bellas on that bass and it just came alive. TIs went on the ACG Finn and sound great on that. It might be an idea to try changing the strings between basses and see what happens.
14. If you don't mind the lack of body there's always the Hohner B2A and the Steinberger Spirit series. The Steinberger Synapse which usually sell used within your budget. Status Energy basses are used and you get a lot of bass for the money. The S3000 is wood body and the S4000 has a composite body.
15. It's always interesting watching people's builds but for some reason I'm finding this really exciting. Maybe because it is something completely different.
16. Super nice. Another good job from Chris. Enjoy playing it.
17. If that's the case it is more than likely an ESP. The control layout is identical to my B205.
18. I'm sure I remember Michael "Water of Tyne" saying he uses one.
19. My Overwater has a couple of small blemishes like that on the face. They were just filled and are just part of the character of the wood now. I wouldn't have it any other way.
20. He is very good. He used to post quite regularly but hasn't put anything up for a long time. Always worth waiting though.
21. Well, that's what feeler gauges are. The digits at the end of your hands. No?
22. ...and yes, Ibanez, Cort and ESP fivers do have closer string spacing. All made in the same factory I believe.
23. In my experience fivers do have a narrower spacing, anything from 16.5mm to 18mm. When I switched to five I had the same problem hitting the right string on 16.5mm spacing. Stick with it, you will soon adapt and you will never look back. Now I can transfer from 19mm on a four to 16.5mm on a five no problem.
24. That does seem quite low. If it feels OK to you and you aren't getting any buzzing then I would leave it. If it is buzzing then it might be an idea to put a thin shim under the nut.
