Glad you enjoyed it. Signal chain? The instrument goes into the vol pedal then into the GEB-7. That is on all the time with a very slight boost at 120 and 500hz. Then into the Mooer slow engine followed by the Ditto x2. That is used to play a loop while I play around with effects at the end of a tune. After that comes the micro POG and the Zoom MS60b. The zoom is used for effects I don't use so often and don't want to spend money on stand alone pedals. The Zoom splits the signal into stereo and goes into TC Flashback then to TC Hall of Fame. HOF has a lovely warmth that isn't there in the same way in the following Strymon Big Sky. The Big Sky is a phenomenal pedal and I wouldn't be without it. That's really what produces all the big pad sounds. The stereo signal comes out of that and into the RC-50. I'm looking into the idea of taking a signal from the RC-50 sub output through a aby pedal and back through the effects chain. Should be able to produce some more interesting sounds from that. It's all a learning process at the moment. I've only been doing this kind of stuff for a few months so it's lots of fun trying out new ideas.

By the end of February I had an abstract, improvised piece almost ready to film. Then I took ill. Coming back to it after three weeks I just couldn't get the same vibe from it so abandoned it. However out of that came this. I had a complaint from a bloke I know who didn't like me never showing my face. Hence the name "Ian's Request". I played this on the ACG Finn which is strung with TI Jazz Flats tuned EADGC. The Ebow is probably a bit too dominant at points. It does sound like an overload of some sort but it is there with passive and active basses, lad rash has agreed with that. It takes a fare whack of sound to overload it properly though. This is a back ground sound. Frankly it shouldn't matter if it is passive or active.

I'm sure this guy will clear the tone from your bass altogether.

You could also try going down the Gary Willis route. Use a much lighter picking action and turn your amp up. As has been suggested, the pick route with a glove on your left hand, as Scott Devine does, even though he has a completely different condition.

Thanks for the replies. I doubt it is a power supply problem. It is powered by a pedal power 4x4 using a current doubler. The other power supply on the board is a pedal power 2 plus. I'll try and record the offending sound tonight.

I have just completed my pedal board with a Zoom MS60b. Great pedal but I hear a low level buzz as if it is being overdriven. Not going to be noticible on a loader piece but on quieter stuff I can hear it clearly and it just annoys me. When I took the pedal out of the loop there is no buzz. The only way I can find to get rid of it is to lower the volume on the bass so much it is too quiet. Do any of you who use this pedal have any clues how this might be solved?

I can only speak from my own experience of both Yamaha and Ibanez basses but not these models. I have had a Yamaha TRB6II in the past and an Ibanez GWB35. What you will also have to consider are the neck dimensions and string spacing. Ibanez usually have 16.5mm spacing on their 5s whereas the string spacing on the TRB will probably be nearer 19mm. Ibanez have very thin necks, about 19mm at first fret. My Yamaha was deeper still.

Very pretty. I do like the plain simplicity of an ash body.

Budget? I could recommend a Status S2/S3 fretless but that will set you back a lot. There's always a Fodera which would set you back even more. I also have an ESP LTD which came in a trade on here and that is wonderful.

I liked the timpanist. Applies to all drummers as well.
