Pudding after pudding even if you don't eat your meat!

And if you eat the same pudding every day you'll soon get bored of it.
This idea of keeping notes so you know in advance that when strings will die can only lead to one thing, boredom. How will you ever know what dull strings sound like again if you never hear them as dull. Life has its ups and downs. It is part of what makes life so interesting. When you have a bad gig/practice with bad strings you then have the new strings to look forward to. Perfection is not perfect. Just concentrate on the playing.

I've noticed many set neck basses have tone blocks. Is this just a decorative contrast, or is there some deeper, more sinister reason? I know you'll know.......

Proverbial can of worms!
Wood doesn't affect the tone
Oh yes it does.
Oh no it doesn't
Oh yes it does
Oh no......

He also has very good taste in bases.

Just about the best, even with an FPPR.

Not our drummer, carpet or stage but you get the idea.

Muse are not so good these days but this guy is amazing!

I would agree with that. Anything after Blackholes and Revelations hasn't really done it for me. All the old stuff they played last night still had that magic.
Another happy purchaser from Rob here. Bought a Status strap from him. Arrived when he said it would. Packed really well and in great condition as described. Purchase with confidence.
I use the iOdock II which gives you all the access you need, midi, audio, usb. Slide your iPad into it and plug in with the 30 pin connector. Comes with a lightning connector too. Works well with any midi keyboard.

But of course there are those who say the wood has no influence on the tone of a guitar.
But then again there are those of us who actually play the instrument who know it makes all the difference.
[steps back slowly in the hope no-one read that]
