1.
Maybe, but you have to have an iPhone first. All three pocket synths together still cost less than an iPhone.
...and I thought I was the only one without an iPhone
2. You can get a synth app for your iPhone for many, many pounds less which will do many, many times more than this will.
3. Extended range shrot scale bass. They are all the rage this year
4. Just lovely. Love the neck woods. I'm going across to the Moffat bash but I'm not sure ifnit's a good idea with Alan and his basses there. Want, want, want.
5.
Is it vital to be able to master one finger per fret?
In a word, no! Depends where you are playing on the neck. If you are playing further up towards the body end then it will be easier to play one finger one fret. Playing nearer the nut it will be more difficult, so use the 1,2,4 fingering over three frets. Dave Marks has something to say about it in the clip below. http://youtu.be/eXkxu_7Tn48
6. If your bass has a wooden fingerboard you might be better to try some halfwounds. If you don't mind the fingerboard being chewed up then try some rounds. I don't like too light a string on a fretless. A .40 or .45 G sounds best to me on fretless. More string to give you mwah.
7. You should be able to use any double ball end strings. Status Hot Wires are always good. Good price as well and a wide choice of types and gauges.
8. I listened to the last program he did on Radio 2. One of the best radio programs I've ever heard. Every track was a cracker and I'm not particularly a funk and soul fan. He played an amazing remix of Marvin Gay's Heard it Through the Grapevine.
9. Lot of love for Alan's work from a few of us on here. His work is up there with the big names. Celebrating his tenth year as a builder this year and a special Moffat Bass Bash to mark that. http://www.moffatbassbash.co.uk Alan has his own build thread which goes back quite some years showing all the basses he builds at various stages. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/9623-acg-build-progress/ He uses an option of an asimetrcal neck if you want it. On first playing my Finn I thought "I'm not sure about this". After a few minutes I had forgoten all about the neck profile. It is very comfortable to play. The filter preamp is something different too. Great Range of tones. East preamps are offered as well. But then the filter preamp is East built too. The basses well worth a look at.

Always fancied one of these. Flats will not bring out the tone. Maybe try a set of halfwounds, you'll get a bit more brightness from them. You could always coat the fingerboard and use rounds then you'd get that lovely bright tone. Here is what the four string can do. http://youtu.be/H7sj15PJ-6Q
11. Bumping this for price drop to £330
12. Oooh! Nice. I've always liked the look of these. Enjoy it.
13. I do like that top. What is it?
14. Mighty purdy.
15. There is no one fretless tone. Same with fretted, you make of it what you want. There are heavy rock fretless players and there are funky fretless players. Pino Paladino has played some pretty funky lines on fretless in the past. Have a look around on youtube and I'm sure you'll find plenty.
16. I don't know if it's related to your problem but I had a similar problem with EADGC tuning on a fiver that I suspect was originally BEADG. The E string would not intonate as the screw for that saddle was too short. Once a longer screw was put in the problem was solved. Don't know if that helps.
17. What's to be guilty about? Some of the best pop music produced in the 70's. Not much to beat Karen Carpenter's voice and Richard's production was just right for it. Missed the program but will search it out on iplayer or watch when it's on next.

£350 seems a good price for a nice Status like that.
20. I Have restrung fivers a few times with no need for a nut change. As long as the bottom of the nut slots are rounded the new strings should sit in them just fine. You might have to adjust the setup of the neck profile and intonation. You can also buy a four string set and a separate C string to save having a spare B.
21.
ooohhh very nice.. I've already got 2 bass collections, the missus will kill me if a get a third.. have a free bump.
How many pairs of shoes does she have?
22. That's too many basses?
23. If you bend a piece of metal backwards and forwards often enough the molecular structure will weaken and it will break. Effectively you are bending the string every time you pluck it and re-tune it. Other than that as above. ['ark a' 'im and 'is molecular structure]
24.
I wanted to post a pic of it here, but I keep receiving an error message that I've exceeded my 30MB limit, despite the file being a lot smaller.
Use Photobucket.
25.
Beautiful example. Looks like you've gone for a slightly wider string spacing than Scott. Is that the case?
No. Same spacing as Mr. Devine, 16.5mm. Very comfortable to play on a fiver. Somehow for me 16.5mm looks a bit odd on a four string so I'm happy with 19mm on a four.
