1. What price is it selling for? What model is it? From the description it sounds like a B4 or 5. Cort basses are very good value for the money.
2. Impressive job. Top marks!
3. Inthink that's what Dave Reaume describes as DNA
4. Oh yes. Thanks for posting this. Good to hear it again. One of the great instrumental breaks in the middle of that song.
5. It sounds like there is a particular frequency of EQ that resonates with the Bb, if that makes sense. It's probably a frequency your amp doesn't have. The Fishman gives the chance to dial out some of that resonant frequency. Other multi-band EQ pedals can do the same. It's really a matter of finding the offending frequency and dealing with it.
6. It doesn't get tougher than that. Brilliant.
7. Tick tock Tick tock Tick tock
8.
Get your order in, and save up while its being built, ha ha. RK
Good idea RK. Only problem is there won't be much time to save at the rate they have produced this one. The bass is being shipped to me. Probably just as well as I might have to show off my dodgy intonation if I picked it up
9. You're right Howie. It's unfortunate that has to happen but it needs a bridge The Bass Collection restore I had done last year had a lovely V of sap wood just where the pickups went. Such is life. And on that bombshell the final invoice is in. Not long now.
10. It really is quite special. I don't think the photos do it justice as often happens. When Chris wiped spirits over it it had such a deep red colour with such a strong figuring. The excitement is building.
11. It is particularly good and three other basses will get faces from the same piece. Lucky guys who get them.
12. That reminds me, I need to go to the optician. :\
13.
Looks great but you are going to have to work on that neck
It's a short scale bass, don't you know
14. I take it that's good then
15. Now then boys and girls. This is where things become even more interesting. The first coats of lacquer have been applied and as you would expect the flame starts to leap out at you. Can't wait to see it for real. Fraid I'm just lost for words now.
16. Monkeyed around
17. Yes, very fine top. The walnut body should give a nice warm tone.
18. I wouldn't expect it to be too bad. ESPs are very good for the price. It won't be a £1500 bass but it may well be OK. I have an ESP LTD 204 and it plays like a dream.
19. This is going to be the best pedal board.........in the world.
20. Comedy joinery? Looks like seriously good jointing to me. Impressive stuff.
21.
I don't practice scales nor do I know where the modes are. What I do know is what the main ones sound like (major, minor, pentatonic, etc) so it's not overly difficult to find them in whatever position I find myself in.
And there my point is made. All replies to my post are relevant and valid. However we all have to accept that there are players out there who neither want to or need to spend time learning scales and modes. There are no shoulds or shouldn'ts in life. If you do something there are consequences. If you don't do something there are consequences. If you spend time learning scales and modes, as has been said, you will be a much more flexible and adaptable player. If you don't you won't be. Neither is right or wrong. I spend time learning scales and modes and enjoy my playing more for it. I also don't feel stuck in a rut. But I do defend the right of those who do not wish or need to spend the time learning such things.
22. Pictures would be useful. However, I think the fact you are thinking about this shows some awareness of what is going on in your body and that is never a bad thing. I would say, try to keep your body, as a whole, as balanced as possible. That way you will avoid straining any one part of it. Prolonged strain is what causes problems in the future. You could also look at how you use your fretting arm/hand. That is part of the balance. Awareness is the key though and you seem to have that.
23.
How does he know what he'll never need ?
When a player only wants to play in a covers band which means learning someone else's lines parrot fashion, why spend hours learning endless modes and diminished scales when he/she will never use them. If that player then chooses to move into a genre such as jazz then those skills will be useful but not before. So why waist time.
24. Even Jeff Berlin doesn't recommend learning things you will never need.
