1. Lucky guy. He told his entire fan bass to blah bla and got away with it.
2. ...across the Topographic Ocean to Xanadu, decreed by Kubla Khan.
3. Some players like to get down below the bottom E, so a fiver fits there. Others like to get up into guitar territory or play chords, so a sixer fits there. Some others don't want the low B but like the idea of chords and notes above a G, so a fiver tuned EADGC fits there.
4.
Oh and yes five is better usually played by better players
Oh no they're not. Uh oh, here we go.
5. But you're only playing along to music you like. Back in the 1980s (I know, I'm old ) I used to put on my bass, a pair of headphones and listen to the Radio 1 chart show on a Sunday. Played along to most of the songs and that's what made me such a bad player these days. That really was shuffle.
6. Oh yes. I can see the conductor stopping the whole orchestra halfway through a Beethoven symphony, looking at the second violin and say "you made a mistake there, we'll start the whole thing again" I once saw Level 42 at Whitley Bay Ice Rink. Part way through one song Mike Lindup took a piano solo. He played a really bum note that ended up getting a huge cheer from the crowd. Take from that what you will.
7. I've seen that guitar before. It used to belong to Dr. Dre.
8. Photobucket, and jolly sharpish! Congratulations, can't wait to see it.
9. I tried a set of the Rotosounds recently and for me, they were no different to rounds. They are the right strings as they have the same silk ends as on the website. I use them on fretless and these ones damage the board just as much as rounds. Status supply their Hot Wires halfwounds. I bought a set of these recently and the E is very dead, as it was on the set I bought a year or two ago. You can get them through their website. D'Addario half rounds are pretty good. Stringbusters.com and Stringsdirect supply them.
10. You will pay anything up to 25-30% on top of the total price plus postage. That covers VAT and any customs charges. Have a look around on the Royal Mail web site. There is a page that explains it very clearly.
11. You live in Manchester? You want to try higher end gear? I take it you know about the Manchester Bass lounge? http://manchesterbasslounge.com/
12. You like Jaco, Marcus. Don't forget he practiced on fretted bass. Don't overdo the slides. Work on your intonation first. Listen to Gary Willis. Loads on youtube.
13. It's no Status bass. Looks like it might be a Washburn Series 1000 that's had the horns restyled but certainly not a Status.
14. There is no copyright on chord changes. Only on tunes. That's why tab sites would be in trouble. As dincz says above what about the blues. There would only have been about two or three jazz tunes written if chords were copyrightable. Jazz tunes are always using existing chord changes just like blues.
15. An osteopath might be worth trying too. They are specific to the musculo-sceletal structure of the body. I have an injury in my right forarm that has stopped me playing the DB for now. Went to the osteopath and she identified exactly where the problem was.
16. A quick search on Google produced a Telecaster forum asking the same question. The answer seems to be that the word comes from German meaning groove or slot. Putting it through MS Word translation seems to agree with that. Any other takers. Good question by the way.
17. I watched my luthier put the nut back on one of my basses recently and he just put a couple of small drops of glue under it to hold it in place. Saves any hassle when you change strings.
18. Why would someone in China buy an American custom shop Fender when they make perfectly good copies of that bass in China with Fender on the headstock ;-) ...Allegedly
19. Wonderful. Just copy the link from the address bar of the build diary, paiste it in here and that's it. Honest, it's that simple.
20. Woop indeed. Beautiful! Nice pickup placement. What's the face wood?
21. That is a Status Energy. http://statii.com/st...logue1994_2.jpg http://statii.com/status_cats/catalogues/1/page2.jpg
22. What? You mean "For Sale: Other musically related items" in the market place.
23. And Fat Rich might be along shortly. He has just done a comparison of the Stealth with other Statii. He liked it so much he ordered one. Certainly go to Statii.com and have a look through the Show your Basses threads. Lots of gorgeous examples there.
