1. I stand corrected as an old biddie with too much time on my hands
2.
Those strings are too big for the slots and are not seated properly (judging by the photo).
Better speak to Chris McIntyre about that. He set it up and it plays beautifully.
3. Does that mean Cilla can buy another new hat?
4. The B guide does look very low, as if it could get any lower. However, My Status fretless basses have the string come out the nut right onto the end of the fingerboard. Spose it just depends how it feels to you, that's all that matters. Status nut
5. You could try playing some chords in that tuning. There's always the option of fitting a D tuner which would let you tune down at the flick of a switch. Just opens up your options really. Oh, and I hate low B strings. Never heard one that I like. I've had a six string in the past too, TRB6 at that.
6. Status Hot Wires have black silks at tuner end only.
7. My mistake, Warrior basses, not Sadowsky.
8. The model Adam Nitti played once upon a time looked very like that. I'm sure it was a Sadowsky.
9. Think he needs to see someone about his memory problems too. How you can forget maker and preamp make after only three years seems strange. Looks a bit like a Sadowsky.
10. Don't want to put you off or anything. I felt that way in 1994. Picked up a bass a handful of over the next seven years with no inspiration whatsoever. 2001 came along with a whole series of coincidences and bass playing was great fun again. Took a complete change of direction into jazz and folk though. haven't looked back since then. All that young person's music just doesn't do it for me now. Give me old peoples music anytime.
11. Scuse my complete and utter ignorance, but what do these look like?
12. I dug out an old recording of our jazz band from early 2011. Did a bit of work to increase volume and add a bit of reverb and this is what was hiding underneath. Now up on Soundcloud.
13.
The answer to that is definitely ...... "not enough band activity". My band has been rather dormant over recent months. For me, my GAS and my band activity are inversly proportional. the more I play, the less I obesess about gear !
...and anything else? You don't have to answer that here but something to ponder.
14.
Well there it is, I haven't slept well for weeks. I seem to go through a constant cycle of feeling that something isn't quite right with my rig or gear and then have to go through the whole thing of changing it, and trying out loads of alternatives etc etc. I feel thoroughly unsettled and sleep awfully throughout the whole thing. What a sad, shell of a man I am.
The counselior in me wants to ask the question; I wonder what else is going on in your life?
15. I don't know if it is anything like the B2.1u. That has what sounds like a similar switch under the pedal. I have to push the pedal down really firmly to activate that switch. Otherwise the little rubber pad under the pedal does not touch the switch. Don't know if that's of any help.
16. Washburn Series 1000s all had wooden necks with phenolic fingerboard. They never had graphite necks.
17. As the title says...
18. It's certainly worth it. The money some people have been trying to get for these things recently makes this look cheap. If that's the type of bass you fancy then you won't go wrong with it. There's one on Ebay at the moment currently at £310.
19.
I shall keep it to myself from now on Eude
I don't know that you need to go that far. I think what everyone in this discussion is saying that it is a very subjective thing. You're dealing with so many different dimensions, construction techniques and wood, that it will never be objective. Then there's the player...
20.
I would not go for a bolt on neck just because 'you might break it' or whatever. They are not the way to make a 'real' bass. IMO folks. If someone offers to make you a neck through you would be a fool to say "no, can you please screw the neck on instead".
I'm intrigued to know what would make you remove this choice when ordering a bass.
21.
Not so bad without vocals.
Was that not the Jo Satriani tune, or was it Cat Stevens, or was it...
22. So that'll be $300 dollars you're selling it for.
23. Maybe the mods could pin the thread about posting photos in all the places it needs to be in a way it cannot be avoided.
24.
I'll def post pics and clips.
Jolly good show, My Lord.
25. I'd be interested to hear what it sounds like if you buy one.
