1. Better still, upload photos onto one of the photo hosting sites and then copy the link into your post. Saves Basschat's bandwidth being used up.
2. I think the S3000 had the same board as the early Energies, Board 100. However, if I were you I'd put in something like an Aguilar OBP3 or a three knob East U-Retro or something similar. They would give you much more control over the tone than you would get from a Board 100. It only had volume, pickup blend and active treble controls. No bass or mid controls which you would get on the others.
3. What on earth inspired that bass? Certainly unique.
4. Probably simple economies of scale. The shop in Brighton buys five sets at £15/set (for example) adds markup + VAT. The Ebay store in USA buys 50 sets at $10/set + no sales tax. That's the way an economy works. Buy more and the supplier will give the store a discount. Small shops don't have the sales capacity to shift large amounts. Web sites have the whole world, potentially.
5. Have you tried spraying some switch cleaner into the pots? That might clean them out and save you having to change them. You'll get cans of the stuff from any electronics supplier.
6. deepbass5 is looking for one. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/187971-sonus-midi-unit/
7. Before you sell such a fine instrument why not investigate Scott Devine's technique for making a four string play like a five. He used an EBS octave pedal. The low octave is full on and the natural sound is off completely. Just play the notes a bit further up the neck. He's a four string player too and it works for him.
8. Always use the rarity tag to bump up the price. I'm sure people will see this for what it is. They seem to on other "rare" guitar auctions.
9.
Matthew Garrison deserves a place in this topic (I think).
You're right there.
10.
My name's BIlbo and I am a musiclal snob...(as if you didn't know )
So, quite an open minded snob then, Bilbo.
11.
But then jazz usually lacks the flair and passion of great fusion...
As Bilbo says what have you been listening to. If you listen to the clip of Wynton Marsallis and Frank Vignola playing Sweet Georgia Brown on youtube I don't think you could really apply that statement to Jazz. Some might say you run the risk of becoming a musical snob with statements like that. Every music has its good points and bad. There is good and bad jazz as there is good and bad fusion, as there is good and bad rock, as there is... The advantage we have these days is the internet to let us hear all that good and bad music. We can then make up our minds before we buy the stuff. Keep an open mind and you'll find the good stuff in any genre.
12.
Any excuse to show my fretless off...
Oh yes! I've always loved that bass. Love to have a go but too far away.
13. Perhaps you could post pictures here and then they wouldn't have to be requested.
14. ...and it's almost as if the names of some genre, like jazz, are hijacked, in a sense, to gain some credibility. I often hear the name jazz banded around in some pop styles and I'm hard pushed to hear any jazz in it at all.
The term 'fusion' tends to send a shiver up my back.
That's exactly the love/hate thing being mentioned. I get the same feeling when I see someone with their thumb up ready to slap a bass. Perhaps this thread will open some players' minds to some of the good stuff around.
15. Now this really does it for me and an all star lineup. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCsbQVXRPYA&list=UUBKLsiuzzG9pIR1YKH-Zpfg&index=18&feature=plcp

Slow?

Has been slow with me too but seems OK now. Maybe the drills are having a weekend off. Don't ask me I'm only a bass player. Seems you need to know more for this forum now.
17.
Has this thread had a refin?
No, it's been reliced.
18.
Why? Is there another coming along?
Don't worry, it's just a Phase or a Chorus of people with the same opinion. Sorry. Hat and coat in hand.
19. I used to dep with a band a few times a year with fretted but they don't seem to want me any more. Sacked! Huh! So that leaves me exclusively fretless. I don't think fretted would fit too well in the jazz and folk I'm in. So no, no problems here. Prefer the sound anyway. I once took a fretted along to jazz band and the leader commented there was more freedom in the sound of the fretless. Fine by me.
20.
This is just that thread with a lot of echo on it.
Technically I think that should be delay.
21. Yes it was discussed quite recently and I would say the same as I said then. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/187066-a-small-rant/page__fromsearch__1
22. There are a number of Jazz Fusion compilations on youtube and one threw up this with some nice fretless on it. Pianist Akira Onozuka http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A04mwwdjfXE
23.
What are you on?
Reality!
24. Looking good so far. Certainly unique.
25.
I detest most of it...
It's always going to be love or hate with fusion. It encompasses so many musical approaches, as the name suggests. Funk, world rock, jazz, Indian and loads of others. But then I suppose that's the same with most types of music.
