Good value.
2. These 80s Tokais are great basses. Hope someone bites soon.
3. I would generally work with a bridge placed mag pup. However, as I have discovered recently the positioning of that pickup is critical. My Status fretless basses have the mag about one centimetre from the bridge. On the other hand my Tokai jazz has the pickup place in the '60s position about five or six centimetres from the bridge. That extra distance keeps the tightness from the back position but gives a lot more body to the sound. As always it comes down to personal taste.
4. I saw this yesterday. And they have the cheek to try and get that price.
5. I currently have a set of Flexocors on my CR4M. They are a 4/4 set strung through to the back plate. As moonbass says there can be some issues with certain 'real' DB strings. Some 3/4 sets are too short. I tried a set of Spirocores on and didn't get beyond the G. Too short. Luckily there was still enough to use on my DB. If you want to try DB strings check the speaking length, so the silks don't cross the nut or the bridge. I have also used Belcantos which sounded good too. I haven't tried the NS strings so can't comment on them. However, 'real' DB strings really do help the sound of the instrument.

Midi Bass
GK3B is not Midi. You would need to fit something like a hexpander to it.
...which is why I originally suggested the GR-55 which does away with the need for any in between box and gives you all the samples and synth sounds you need.
7. It's hard to say as they don't come up often. I've had a look around on Statii.com and a few have been around in the past few years. Prices ranged widely from £375-£1100. I doubt you would get £1100 but it might be worth your while starting around £600-700. You might have to try and sell for less though.
8. If I follow you correctly, Scott Devine has just posted his secret way around this. http://www.scottdevinemusic.com/how-to-make-your-4-string-sound-like-a-5-string
9. We've always had the understanding in our jazz band that if someone can't do a gig we get a stand in. Don't know why that should change in a rock/pop band. A simple text in reply saying that's OK we have a stand in. No-one is indespesible.
10. That's a shame. Just had the second CD delivered yesterday.

Midi Bass
So apart from just changing the sound of the Bass could it trigger different riffs while keeping the origanal bass sound ?
If you are using a Roland Pickup (GK3B) then yes you can use the original bass sound along with synth/sampled sounds. Roland pickups have a three position switch. Synth/mix/original sound. Can't speak for other systems but I would imagine that would be the case with those too.

It certainly would be possible. You could use something like a GR-55 or any other GR that works with bass. However, you will have problems with triggering sounds at the lower frequencies nearer the nut. Move towards the bridge and that might not be such a problem. Have a look at some of Gary Willis' videos on youtube to get an idea of how it can be used. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHxSDP4EYy0
13. That's quite an unusual Series II. Don't see many like that. Very fair price too.
14. The answer to your question is, yes, it is down to trial and error. But DB strings a very expensive to just try and find out you don't like them. Are you using a magnetic or bridge pickup. That will dictate what core you have in a string. Synthetic core strings will not work with mag pickups. I use Flexocor strings on my NS CR. Lovely sound and as close to a DB with an EUB. I have also used Belcantos, just as good. There are some sound samples of different DB strings in this link. 15. Can't give one name as it was one of two people. 1977 and Alan Freeman played Pink Floyd's Sheep on his Saturday Rock show and I thought " I want to play that". So either David Gilmore of Roger Waters, whoever played bass on that track.
16. Here's something I've just been introduced to. Tim Landers bass just sounds as good as it gets. It's all music of King Crimson played as a jazz trio. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FX0rORcHOsA
