1. If I've calculated the exchange correctly that makes that about £707. A new one would cost over 16000KR, and that's just for a four string.
2. That is very, very pretty. It's an amazing top wood too. I'd be interested to hear what it sounds like with the pickup in that position.
3. D'Addario do a short scale halfwound. Available from Stringbusters. http://www.stringbusters.com/Ko-Bespoke/productlist.asp?cat=1/BASS%20STRINGS/BASS%20STRINGS%20DADDARIO I have used Status Hotwires halfwounds for years. I have an old set on my Tokai Jazz fretless and they still sound great after years.
4. Relatively speaking, they are a lot quieter than an ordinary acoustic guitar.
5. Just bought a 4 string set of these. Once they are played in a bit they are just gorgeous.
6. A clip on the subject of Time and Groove.
7.
Hi Dan Get the rhythm of the song by tapping your foot to the beat. Getting the notes where they should be comes with practising, I reckon.
This is a good point. Simple but useful. One other thing you could try while you are doing this is sing a bass line rather than playing it. Might sound strange but it is using different parts of the brain. Maybe something else to work into a practice routine.
8. You could do a lot worse than check out Scott Devine's channel on YouTube. He has all sorts of clips on different approaches to bass playing from beginner to more advanced. http://www.youtube.c...vinebass/videos Also, without wanting to be too critical, if you play like you write in your post you will get lost very easily. If you put some punctuation into your playing at certain points that will help break up the piece you are playing. I'm sure Scott Devine covers bits like that in some of his clips. You could perhaps put in a stronger note on the first beat in the bar. That emphasizes where the start of the bar is. Sometimes it is a good idea to go back to basics and start from the beginning. In the early days of playing we probably were all caught up in wanting to run before we can walk. Maybe start by playing the root note to each chord. Practice that again and again until you are sick of it. Then practice it a lot more. That will help you keep on the rhythm.
9. One quartet I played in the singer and I started Embracable You on our own. She sang in Bb, I played in A. Nowhere to hide. Ooops
10.
Anyway the greatest cover is here
That's it, I'm giving up. Even when I play well I can't do as well as that.
11. Give them a break! They are working on the cycle of fifths. They are just on different bits of the cycle at the same time.
12. Thanks Truckstop. Needing the space and this has been surplus to requirements for some time. As you say lots of volume.

You can feel the power when playing. The EQ is a bit hissy which was quite common on these amps in the 1980s. There are a few bits of wear that can be seen in the photos but otherwise good condition for an amp that is about 25 years old. In full working order. There is no speaker lead with this. Pick up from Berwick upon Tweed or I can drop off in Newcastle or Edinburgh areas for an extra £20 for petrol. Too heavy to think about posting. Willing to discuss shipping in UK only.
14. Homemade 18" speaker cab with a Fane 8ohm speaker. Still in full working order but not been used for donkeys years. Lovely deep bass sound. As can be seen from the picture there is a tare on the cone. This has not affected the sound in any way. Yours to pick up from Berwick upon Tweed for £20 or I can drop off around Newcastle/Edinburgh distance for an extra £20 for pertrol. Bargain of the week! Too big to think about posting.
15. Here's a couple that I've used. http://www.songtrellis.com/changesPage http://kristinhall.org/songbook/BluesAndStandards.html
16.
@BassBus - Out of interest what halfwounds do you use?
I have an old set of Hotwires halfwounds on at the moment. I bought another set recently for another bass but they don't have nearly the same brightness. Must contact Status to ask if it's just a batch problem or if the 'formula' has changed.
17. Spray adhesive making a house a home at Your local diy superstore Making it easier. Every little helps. I'm loving it. 18.
The nut issue, may be a stupid question but do you wind your strings down the post instead of up? Winding them downwards can create more of a break angle over the nut so that it's making proper contact.
Yeh I'd say that too. Maybe put a couple of extra winds too, might help to get the string down a little further. On coating the board. It's often an epoxy coating players use. I don't have my board coated at all as I want the sound of string on wood. Someone commented on this on a recent thread. When you have the board coated it's like playing a string on a plastic fingerboard. I use halfwound strings. They give most of the brightness of a round but without the damage to the board. Others will say they have used rounds on fretless boards for years without any problems. At the end of the day it comes down to personal taste. I get a lovely 'Jacoy' tone with the halfwounds on my Jazz fretless and they are really quite old now.
19.
had a look but couldn't find.... more info please!
