Is there really any difference between reliced and wrecked?

I think the CRT4 has no mag pup. However, you are getting a good pre-amp on it, which is very powerful. The NXT has no pre. So I'd say those prices are quite fair. The only problem is, are you willing to pay that kind of money?
-
I'd agree with icastle on the small practice amp. However, if you must you might be able to take a lead out the effects send and into the hifi. Do not under any circumstances take a lead from the speaker outputs. That will more than likely blow up your hifi.
Did I mention it's been played (well, held for a photo actually) by Nicola Sturgeon MSP, Deputy First Minister of Scotland?? I doubt if it will add to the value...
I'm not sure that's something you should shout about too much.
GAK (www.gak.co.uk) always seem to have very low prices. And Thomann (www.thomann.de).
I've found recently that Sounds Live has been very competitive with Thomann, certainly with the gear I've been looking at.

A simple Google search throws up loads. I think the Aebersold tracks come with the bass on one side of the stereo and piano on the other. You simply pan one side out. Here's an example on you tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kqid2S-UprU

Is that bra holding in a pair of 24Fs? Or is that too subtle? Looks luvvly
I'm waiting for someone to organise a 'Grab a Gramma' night...
It#s not that kind of Gramma. It's de way de yoof talk abat fings, innit.

I'd forgotten about these. Sounds like it would be just the thing to stop my bass being so boomy in some rooms.

You got that for £150 That's an absolute beauty. You lucky, lucky man.

The one on the left looks like it might be a chorus. http://www.effectsdatabase.com/model/columbus/chr5
Thanks BassBus. i guess your right. i'll really try this year to practice and make it regular. I think maybe i'm going through a faze of self criticism... I have some good gear and that does make me feel a little worried at gig's. i guess i think that maybe other bassists or band people may be expecting me to be much more advanced than i am...
There's nothing wrong with self-criticism, just means you want to improve what you do. Nowt wrong with that. Just be careful you don't take it too far. Perfectionism is actually quite a negative trait. You spend so much time looking for the negative that you can loose sight of the positive. So you end up having a bad time all the time. We all make mistakes. Allow them to happen. Learn from them and move on.

I'll bet you are actually a better learner than you think you are. You talk about switching between 4 and 5 strings and drop D tuning. That all had to be learnt and you've done it. There is a question that is asked by some people; How do you get to the Albert Hall? Practice, practice, practice. Unfortunaely there is no easy way round it. The French call it repetition and that's all it takes. Keep practicing the same thing over and over and eventually it sinks in without you knowing it. Don't force it. So I say keep playing both. Find what suits the music you are playing. If that turns out to be fivers then that's what is needed.

With that kind of money you are best to start in the For Sale section of this forum. Lots of choice and instruments that are at very good prices. If you're unsure about buying unseen just check for any feedback the seller might have in the Feedback section. I've had nothing but good results buying from BC but as always do the checks first.

How about keeping this thread on topic. Now I really don't like you, Luc. In ever such a nice way of course. One of the most beautiful pieces of wood Rob has ever used. Enjoy the playing.
OK posting mine here too: https://www.facebook...=1&l=d2b1575e92
What was the EUB that Jon Thorne was playing? The new Godin basses look very interesting.

Gipsy jazz giant, Louis Vola flouting the 'rules' on DB technique
BassBus replied to Clarky's topic in EUB and Double Bass
And Django himself only fretted with two fingers. He couldn't do it any other way. Did that affect his ability? No. Probably contributed to his sound. 'The book' is only written by one person but there are countless millions of musicians. Just sometimes a different style of playing comes from someone else's 'sloppy' technique. Of course it is always advisable to work with a 'good' technique but there is no need to be too anal about it. Just enjoy the playing. -
Thanks for posting these. Only thing lacking is the noise.

Weather Report's Heavy Weather is always a good place to start. His first solo album, Jaco Pastorius was the one that started it all. Also have a look at the documentary about him in four parts on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTcbTg8O548

At about £1200 new I'd just rip his hand off. That is unless it has no neck, or pickups or electronics or...
+1,000,000 Animals by far my fav too.
Glad that makes 3 of us.

I always think it's a shame no-one rates Animals. Was the first time I heard Floyd. Alan Freeman playing it on his Saturday Rock Show. Been my favourite since. Never been a huge fan of The Wall. Has it's moments but only about four of them. Just a great band though and I'll always be sorry I never saw them live. Still have DVDs though, next best thing.
