1. I'm really not sure what your fear is. You play cello and have played NS. I think it is the fear of playing without lines that holds us back. I've been there. All you really need are marks at 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th and octave. That devides the board into smaller areas which might make it easier for your brain to work with in the early days. So as has been suggested side dot markers or even small lines that just hook over the edge of the neck would do.
2.
A coffee table?
Don't be silly. The clues are in there. He plays bass. The site is for a company that builds guitars. It's a bass guitar. My coat is already hanging on my arm.
3. Sold a bass to Chris. A pleasure to deal with and good communications. Met all the costs and fees for the transaction without any problem. Well worth dealing with. Thanks Chris.
4. I wish someone would ban slapping, except Mark King. Why? Because I can't do it even half as well as him and it is just a cliche now.
5. Only a Wal will give you the true sound that Mick Karn had. However, if you get a fretless with a pickup near the bridge and mix the bias towards that, that should get close. Boost the mids as well. Good luck and I don't think you would regret having a go at fretless.
6. What's the serial number? Lovely looking bass at a fair price.
7. Yet another happy customer here. Ordered one for my Markbass 15" cab a long time ago and about to order another for my CMD121P.
8.
Is he really any good? ...can someone enlighten me please?
Spot on intonation and amazing use of false harmonics all on a six string bass. What's not to admire. Having said that his music is not quite to my taste even if his ability is.
9. I'm not a fan of slap bass at all but I do admire his style. I do like his fretless playing though, Ink Illusion being my favourite.
10. Just had a Markbass amp delivered from Floyd. Great amp in great condition. Flawless transaction and a gentleman to deal with.
11. Off to see my osteopath this afternoon about mine. Being a gardener with all the asociated bending doesn't help. Fortunately mine is only muscular and not spinal. Still wares you out though. Use a trolly to cart gear around. Saves a lot of trouble and everyone comments "That's a good idea".
12. Have you looked at the programable SansAmps?
13. Depends on the type of music you want to play on one. Great for playing tunes in higher registers and chording. And forgive the shameless plug but I have one for sale HERE on BC
14. Positives of headless? Well as said above, they never go out of tune. They have a straight string pull so no chance of strings slipping on the tuning post. Strings are a doddle to change. With double ball strings you just loosen the tuner slot the string out, slot another in and tune up. I'm naturally going to suggest Status if you can afford one. You won't find any headless Statii with wooden necks though. If you solo the front pickup you get a pretty good Pbass sound. I have a Hohner B2A as well. Everyone always slags off the EMG Select pups but I get a fine sound from mine. Might be best to go the cheaper route first and see how you get on.
15. Thanks Kongo. I tried a set of lighter strings at one point and that made it even easier to play.
16. Thanks Chris, it does play well just two too many strings for me these days.
