Hi everybody, The previous owner of my bass did very very bad job while installing flushmount straplocks. Screw heads are stripped and I could manage to unscrew only one. So I need help about how to unscrew the other one. There are some coventional methods but they will not work because I don't have an easy access to screw in the straplock. Any body had a similar problem and how did they manage to unscrew? I would like to fill the holes up as I much prefer normal straplocks over flushmount. I am thinking of using some sawdust/wood dust and glue to fill them up. Will it be strong enough? Is there any other/better methods? Thanks in advance for all the suggestions and help. GC

I bought Markbass head from Paul. He was kind enough to post it to Cyprus and the head arrived in bulletproof packaging. It was a great pleasure to deal with him. Deal with confidence. Thanks Paul

Anybody who tried/owned both the Little Mark 800 and the Little Mark Tube 800 and can share opinions on similarities and differences would be a big help. I had a chance to try my friend's LM Tube 800 at a gig I had last night as I forgot to take my head with me to the last minute gig in a rush (bit stupid I know) I didn't have enough time to fiddle with it. Just dialed in the sound I needed and started gigging. I have to admit that I was impressed by the sound and the power I got at 8 ohm. So I am interested in hearing the thoughts of those who had experience with LM 800 and LM Tube 800. Thanks

Is the new H115 smaller than older ones?
I'm guessing that most bass players that want (and can afford) either MB or BF cabs, and use more than one, tend to stick to one or the other brand.
I too prefer to stick with one brand (Barefaced preferably) but I cannot afford a new one at the moment. It is also very hard to convince the seller to post the cab to where I live now when I find used one here.
Is the Markbass cab 8 ohm or 4?
The markbass cab is 8 ohm. I still have plenty of room for more cabs as my head goes down to 2 ohm.
that's not to say that they won't sound good together mind! I tried a BF Compact (the gen 2 version with the 15" speaker) with a TKS H115 and it sounded bloody great!
I was checking TKS cabs at some point. They look good. How do you compare them to Barefaced?
I put a Bergantino AE210 and Gen1 Compact together. At front room levels it sounded very, very good. Call Alex and ask him.
Of course it depends on the brand but at least I know that the Compact works well with some 210 cabs.

+1 for what Badboy suggested but If you are looking for cheaper option I would suggest you to try new Fender Rumble series combos. I have been using Rumble 100 for band practices and small gigs. They are very small, light and loud.
Try it. If it sounds good, it works
True, that's an option Just want to know about the experiences of other BCers and if it works for them.

I have Barefaced Compact cab 15 inch (not super compact) and I have a chance to get Markbass 102HF 2X10 for good price from a friend. So I am wondering if anybody ever mixed the two. I am curious to know about the sound. Thanks GC

I was in between Streamliner and Carvin B series and decided to go for Carvin. It is very powerful and warm sounding head. Molan (a great BCer who works at Bass Gear) can give you better ideas if you contact him.

I suggest you to check barefaced compact. They are one of the best 15s on the used market. In fact, I can sell mine for the price it cost me. Just pm me if you are interested in. I am very happy with it but thinking on changing my setup to 2 12s instead of 15s.

Thanks Raslee. I play reggae mostly, so it was helpful to read your opinions and experiences.
It was a "newer" US one as I believe they have moved WT production back to US.
Oh ok, I didn't know that.

Thanks again to you all for all the inputs.
I've played all of the above but only used a WT550 in a gigging situation so can only really comment in depth on that particular model. First thing you notice about the Eden is that it has instant "tone" when you plug in. With everything set flat it just exudes a certain authority. Loads of trouser flapping low end but hugely articulate in the mids and top end. The tone section is massive, very small changes produce huge differences in the sound. This is probably all to do with the huge toroidal transformer in it. In my opinion it is probably the best engineered amp going.... The Carvin BX500 is also a pretty meaty amp but I felt the controls let it down. They feel a bit flimsy to me and if I owned one, it would have to be in a case/rack to protect the front panel. It does everything from "grind" to "Motown thump" and all stops in between. It's very loud but doesn't have the same authority as the Eden.
Was it old US made Eden or one of the newer Chinese mades? Any experience with the B series of Carvin?
Another BX500 owner here. I got mine after hearing Mykesbass's (well, he let me use it for a gig actually). It replaced my GB.
I know it is all depending on personal preference but what made you to prefer Carvin BX over GB? Was it GB streamliner or shuttle?

Thanks for all the replies. They are all helpfull.
Please forgive the awful spelling in that post, my phone threw a fit and refused to let me proof-read before posting :embarrassed:
I am not native so no problem for me at all. I probably made many mistakes too
The B1000 and 2000 heads are very clean, clear and 'muscular' sounding. I guess the Eden sits somewhere between the two tonally. I haven't tried a WT head to head with a B series Carvin but might be able to have a blast next week.
I am looking forward to hear your opininon about WT. What you mean by "muscular"? Thick, warm, deep etc? Can you get vintage tones from B series? How do you compare the BX to B series soundwise?
It's natural sound is a deep, thick, valvey tone that's naturally scooped, but if like me you prefer something clearer with prominent mids which that sounds deep and authoritive then it can do that too.
There are very happy Streamliner owners and they describe the sound deep, valvey, vintage etc. like you but I also read some comments here and there which stated that it can sound muddy. Do you agree with that?

Thanks Mykesbass. I read many good things about Carvin BX and B series and I am more interested in B series (especially B1000). I just don't get on well with Graphic EQ. Have you had any chance to try Carvin B series heads?
-
Hello all, What I know about GB Streamliner, Carvin B series, and Eden WT550 amp heads is that all of them are good quality products and warm sounding heads. This is not a "vs" topic and I am not asking neither for the winner nor for the loser. I just would like to ask opinions of those who owned either two or all of these amps. Their pros, cons, sound, reliability, things you like or you don't like etc. Thanks, GC
