  1. I'll squeeze them in somewhere...
  2. Well, it fits! I think I have a plan for the Markbass cab too. Then cover it all in a blanket and hopefully it'll all be fine. Also done some road trip prep work on the car - unclogged my rear washer nozzle, emptied the water out of one of my rear light clusters (bloody condensation), fitted new front wipers as the old ones weren't clearing so well. Two weeks to go...
  3. It's the only thing I'd change about my G&L Tribute LB-100 - the vintage tint has been applied a bit too enthusiastically and it looks like it has jaundice.
  4. Found it in the second to last place I could think of! Only used a handful of times - just checked and thankfully the batteries hadn't leaked through disuse! Will this work?
  5. I may struggle to find it, but I think I have one of these going spare *somewhere* that you're welcome to. Barely used. Hold that thought...
  6. I think this is going off the rails. There's a big difference between someone flat out saying they don't use PayPal and someone referring to some nebulous, undefined "issue" with their PayPal. I'd definitely have issue with the latter.
  7. Good opportunity, stars don't often align like that. And I totally agree with you on Gibson at the moment. They're not dead to me, but they're definitely on life support.
  8. You must have played both then.
  9. Hmph, doesn't sound like they know what "professional" means. And they have the nerve to make it seem like it's just plug and play - that's pretty disingenuous
  10. If it helps, I don't know anything about Jaco apart from "he was a famous (fretless) bass player" and I've no real desire to find out. If I've heard him play on something it was an accident.
  11. Who's getting excited then? I'm going to have a test fit of all the gear in the car on Saturday... and try to figure out where a Markbass NY121 cab might fit into this equation...
  12. Fixed that for you
  13. It's definitely the bridge wire. Is it connected? Is all the grounding correct?
  14. I'm not, sorry to say.
  15. All the talent in the world can't make up for flakiness. That's why dependable plodders like me don't get fired from bands.
  16. Avoidance of fees and the (imo not unreasonable) accountability that one must adhere to as a seller would be my guess for the main reasons why not.
  17. It doesn't go any way to disproving the impression that Gibson are a tone deaf "lifestyle" company and that making musical instruments is merely a means to an end in order to achieve this business classification, rather than being their primary focus any more.
  18. Has anyone noticed the 3 screw neck attachment with microtilt on the Telebass? Never thought I'd see those reappear on a mainstream model...
  19. I've owned a couple of fivers and I didn't really see the point (not saying there isn't one, I just didn't find it as useful as some people do). I play 4 string exclusively - if I need a Eb or a D I just tune the E string down and recalculate. Doesn't make me a monster, or "doing it wrong" - according to whom, exactly? You don't need to justify your bass choices to me or anyone else. Just try it, it'll either work for you or it won't - only you can decide.
  20. The G&Ls with the Tritone preamp also work fine in passive mode with a dead battery (even with the battery removed) and the passive EQ (obviously) still works.
  21. There is absolutely zero Gibson content in this bass.
  22. Do they have a feedback thread?
  23. I know I have an excess of basses, and I don't give a monkeys about it. It's want, not need, and I'm 100% comfortable with that. If you're not gigging, you only "need" one. If you are gigging then there's an argument for "needing" two (for backup purposes/being professional if nothing else). Anything beyond that is pure avarice, that's fine and I don't care to what depths of hell I'm going for my bass hedonism. FWIW (not that I need to justify myself to anyone) - I play *all* my basses on rotation at gigs and rehearsals and any which aren't getting a look in get sold.
  24. Red Sub BT5110 - a sibling of the Ibanez Promethean
  25. Last night we returned to Wilsons in Aberdeen, and it was a good one. First live outing for the Explorer, and it was a lot of fun - I managed not to silly billy anyone with it plus it sounded good to boot! Once again we had our guest "guitarist" Gordon with us for a bunch of songs, and I managed to get some one-on-one posing time with him during Whole Lotta Rosie. Decent crowd, some familiar faces and some new ones, just what you want to see. When people ask when you're coming back, you must be doing something right. Was supposed to finish at 12.30 but ended up playing until 12.45 due to ONE MOAR CHOON requests. Amp made it to the end of the gig - this was helped by turning on only 5 mins before we were due to start and switching it off at half time, it still felt unnervingly warm at the end (can feel the heat through the front panel) so it will need further investigation.
