For context, I've been using the Hotone Harmony since March last year. For those times when the singer says "can we drop/raise this one by X semitones?" Caveats - I wouldn't even go lower than -3 with this, it gets a bit warbly. Slowly switch down from 2 to 1, if you do it too quick sometimes the change isn't picked up. Thought my first one was faulty but the replacement was this way (to a lesser degree) also so I just accepted it as a quirk. It not only drop tunes but it goes up too - sometimes I use it as an octave above (full dry signal, about half wet signal) and it works as an octave below. Can do 2 octaves up/down but that's just silly Also has that "detune" function which sounds vaguely chorussy.

In the allowed section: "Maintenance/setups that only involve work on existing aspects of your bass (ie no purchasing a preamp to add to it)" I think this counts as maintenance. If you wanted to be super picky then the new nut should be the same material as the old one. But clearly you're replacing a faulty nut so I'm not feeling picky. Pass from me.

It's not as if it'd stop working if the apps (and remember it's on computer as well as phone/tablet) suddenly become unavailable - you'd just be stuck with whatever parameters are in there. Just as well so far I've been delighted with the default Toneprint in the Spectracomp! I'm pretty sure that some enterprising person would step in and create something if TC Electronic ever ditched their Toneprint technology. USB isn't going anywhere any time soon.

Not strictly speaking bass related in and of themselves, but they will be put to bass related work. Getting my last purchases in before next years tilt at the whole abstinence thing: Bluetooth transmitter/receiver to cut the cord between the laptop/phone and the amp's aux in. USB OTG cable, so I can do deep Toneprint stuff (editing parameters etc.) with my phone rather than having to use the laptop.

Yes I did. I just read what's there - "what's the point of 4", "why limit your range" - it sounds pretty confrontational to me and I was up for stirring the pot (as I alluded to at the beginning of the post you quoted - I'm nothing if not self-aware enough to call myself out).

Fair point about cab choice being a factor. Looks like I chose correctly with the Markbass then...

OK, I just got back from my "war volume" test against my drummer at our rehearsal room - BH250, into a single 8 ohm Markbass NY121 cab, so probably doing one hundred and something (TC annoyingly tightlipped about power output at 8 ohms). Let's just say that the master was a tickle over 12 o' clock and I was punching through no bother. I could hear it fine, drummer said he could hear it fine. Make of that what you will. I'm delighted with this result and will have another go in the future with guitarist and singer in tow also but I think there's enough headroom there. I am confident I'll have enough oomph should I ever need to press this into emergency service at a gig.

Aye, I saw that one. Nice to see one out in the wild instead of stock photos - looks pretty good. Pickup route is a bit rough but I will disguise that by painting the inside of it black, like I did with my G4M rat bass where the pickup route was a bit wider than standard, and the Lace Aluma-P doesn't hide much!
