1. Throwing a bucket of whatever at someone on stage - that's "punk" is it now? Well, "punk" can bog off then - it's not welcome anywhere near me.
2. So, yay for great customer service from a company then, which happens to have staff the OP finds attractive. Win - win?
3. One and a half - a trusty old Boss TU-2 which works great for me, never had a problem, never felt compelled to get anything else which people are periodically telling me are better - TU-3, Pitchblack, Polytune (although the tuning all the strings together is pretty cool, I'll give you that). The half? One of those Planet Waves things shaped like a plectrum with the strobing LEDs. Would get me out of jail if for some reason the TU-2 let me down.
4. When I need super long scale strings (for thru body strung Gibsons) - D'addario XL nickel rounds 45-105 are my go-to set.
5. Orkestra del Sol - mad 9 (I think) piece band - lots of horns, 2 drummers, and no bass! Low end done on a sousaphone. Therefore, a refreshingly different listen, and quite a show as well. Really enjoyed it http://www.orkestradelsol.co.uk/
6. I think part of the problem is people going out later anyway - pre drinking at home because it's cheaper then heading out. That surely has an impact upon the amount of "passing trade" you might get as a support act on stage at 9pm or so.
7. Well, the Halloween gig went well, the Talman performed admirably - was too loud on stage and the sound engineer asked me to turn down - always the better problem to have rather than being too quiet. Could hear myself no bother, stayed in tune the whole gig, didn't mind that I draped a plastic fake chain with little skulls on it around the top two tuners, looked ace, can't complain! It's a cheapy keeper
8. Although I'm principally a Hartke string user, I use D'addario XL 45-105 strings whenever I need super long scale for my thru body strung Gibsons - the regular length Hartkes just can't quite reach the A tuner with enough wrap. Been very happy with them, no complaints.
9.
Exactly. This is the sort of job that Squiers were made for.
Waste of a Squier to be honest, given how good they are these days. Some sub £50 second hand vaguely P shaped thing would have done. Or a Thomann "for decoration only" job.
10. Didn't sell at 549, I know, I'll almost double the price! It'll fly out the door then
11.
Band websites are one of the few places where I think auto-play media has a place. Might be nice to embed some video there which will run once someone loads it up (at least for the desktop version)?
Auto play media is never ok as far as I'm concerned. Guaranteed to put me off a website, regardless of its purpose.
12. I'm pretty happy with where I am playing-wise. I don't slap, I don't use a pick and I've got no desire to learn. So I take up songwriting instead, using what I have to do something new. Then again, someone in the band comes up with something challenging they want me to play on bass, so there's always that. Don't want to let them (or myself) down so sometimes I still get opportunities to play something I can't without a lot of practice and hard work

Should I have?
14. I see a few basses in the £250-400 bracket sitting for ages for what I would consider to be bargain prices. Dunno what's happening with that. I've got something to sell in this ballpark and to be honest I can't see the point of advertising it here.
15. The BC marketplace has been in the toilet for ages. Even things which I think are very reasonably priced seem to sit around for far too long. Can't tell you why but it's really irritating and it has put me off selling things on here in the first place.
16.
Got a few basses on my mind so I thought I'd see what everyone's current GAS status is. Simply list the basses you're currently fancying Gibson RD Artist (1979 onwards with two mini toggles for the Moog rather than a single 3 way) - financial pipedream at the moment Yamaha BB (active/passive like a BB1100s or a BB614 with a replacement preamp - probably can't afford one of the posher thru neck jobs) If a Gibson Ripper came along at a knockdown price (a cosmetic restore job maybe like my Victory?) then I'd take it. And anything else that makes me go "ooh, that's interesting"
Ha, this thread resurrection has given me the opportunity to review progress: 1) post 1979 RD - check 2) Yamaha BB - had a BB614, BB300, BB450 and still have a BB350F 3) Ripper restoration - check. I am a man of my word!

18. Another vote for Interparcel/UPS. Never had an issue.
19. Played mine at band rehearsal. I can't say I noticed any problem with the tuners - I found them adequate enough. Could hear myself no bother. Will be playing it at our next gig - Halloween - will probably do something gimmicky like hang some "spiders" off the tuners and such like
20.
I have had mine for a few years now. Love it. It has a great neck on it and everything is bolted together well. Fit and finish is generally very good. I play in a loud band with three guitars and a heavy drummer and it cuts through well, even with my Streamliner when the amp is set to a valvey tone. Only negative for me is that the pots do crackle a bit if I haven't played it for a while. Electronics are the same as the U.S. version, though I suspect may have slightly less expensive pots. The wiring cavity is filled with a spaghetti like mess of wires. Also, make sure you carry a spare battery, as when potential falls the bass starts to sound like a bunch of wasps in a biscuit tin pretty quickly, even in passive mode.
Or pull the battery out altogether and use the active switch as a kill switch
21.
You guys with loads of basses (of which I am most jelous) do you have cases for them all? If so, where are the cases? I had six basses at one point last year and they didn't take up that much space on the rack thingy I've got, but the cases took up half the bedroom...
I only have 2 hard cases at the moment and several gig bags. Bought most of mine second hand sans cases and that suits me fine.
22. Well, if anyone here bought it and decide it isn't for them, I'd be keen to give it a go
23. Tribute L-2000 is a great bass. Things to watch out for - has a chunky neck, if you like that sort of thing - wide AND deep profile. The EQ is passive, cut only. The "active" setting is merely a line boost, there is a "active with treble boost" option which brightens the sound. I always used mine in passive mode and didn't worry about it. Heaps of settings even in stock wiring, you've got pickup selector and series/parallel. I got mine rewired to give a third option - single (inner) coils. Any I've encountered are well screwed together with decent fret work and solid hardware.
24.
I'll definitely be there - well, I only live 20 miles down the road. The weekend before is the London Bass Guitar Show - and the weekend after, (26th), I celebrate a significant birthday.
We'll get in a few early 21st birthday drinks at the bash, no?
