1. Can't help you with your question, but I do like the look of those controls.
 2. Ach, that's a drag. Sorry to hear it, but onwards and upwards. I can't say I've had any major disasters before, gearwise. We once tripped the main circuit breaker at a gig in a giant shed, it ended up being pretty cool - the lights went out, the powered instruments went dead but the drums and the horns kept on playing until power was restored then we just carried on
 3. Never had a problem with my TU-2, never felt the need to change. I'll change it when it breaks, if it ever does
 4.
Maybe the're a duff batch finish-wise and this is why they are being punted out cheap. Anyway from what you say you've done, I reckon you'll have a pretty good sounding (and playing) bass.
They're not a duff batch, mine's fine, although I won't deny that I was worried. I love my older Gibsons but I've not had the best of luck with new ones. Rather than the duff batch theory, it's more like it's time to clear out old, discontinued models to focus on the 2014 stuff. The NR T-bird isn't the only Gibson bass they've got on offer right now...
 5. There's not enough BASS FACE in this thread, so here's some:
 6.
Cool. How does it sound? P
Tried it at band practice last night. Chunky, thick humbucker sound, a bit more aggressive than my other TB+ wearing basses (IV and Les Paul DC). Could hear myself no probs (Ampeg PF500 into an Ashdown 8x10), didn't need too much fettling with the EQ, it wasn't far off flat - rolled back the bass slightly so it wasn't too boomy. I know you had pot woes on yours - value too low wasn't it? Maybe mine actually are 300K or whatever they're supposed to be. I don't find myself wanting for highs, it gives a nice cheeky pop if you want to get all percussive and there's a reasonable amount of burp from the bridge pickup. Me, I'm mostly a neck pickup guy, but it's nice to have the option.
 7. NBD - Non Reverse Thunderbird
 8.
lol this place seems to be turning into "Fenderchat" no other makes will be tolerated
I guess I've got a burning at the stake to look forward to then
 9. Make sure the dog is actually dying before you take it out into the yard to shoot it
 10.
+1 Convert it to passive and get rid of the battery problems forever. IMHO
If the pickup is an active EMG then it'll need to be replaced too if the OP wants to go fully passive with no batteries.
 11. There must be a wiring fault somewhere, that is spectacular drain. An average alkaline battery delivers 565mAh, so to drain in half an hour, you're pulling over an amp out of it! According to EMG specs - an EMG BTC control (2 band EQ) drains 600uA@9V, and a single EMG pickup draws around 80uA. That's MICROamps. You might have different stuff in your bass, but you see where I'm coming from here. Something's definitely not right. Are you using good quality alkaline 9V batteries? Is the battery warm when you pull it out once it's finished?
 12.
Whoever buys it won't know (or care) what you paid for it.
Whoever buys it might not care, but there's a few folk on here who do care, will find out and will bust your chops about how much you paid for it. Not that it's any of their bloody business, but hey ho.
 13.
A band calendar is an excellent way to avoid these situations completely as well...
This relies entirely upon band members filling stuff in. I'm currently working out what to do for a clash for a gigs involving two guys in my band in August because of a calendar snafu
 14.
Only without getting a cheap silver star to pin on your chest ...
I've never depped for anyone, but if I ever do, I will wear a cheap silver star with pride!
 15.
Whats depped?
When a player is temporarily substituted when they can't make a gig. Short for "deputising" I guess.
 16.

How odd - I thought of these when you originally asked the question, but decided not to put them forward because of your requirement for "traditional" body shapes
 17.
Hiya all, Recently acquired an EBMM SUB Stingray and it's a fab bit of kit. Only problem is that the treble and bass cut/boost knobs don't have a centre detent. This makes it very hard to set things flat as a starting point, and also makes it hard to see at a glance during a gig if I've moved them by accident.... Any ideas? Cheers, Jim
If the knobs have grub screws, loosen the knobs then put them in a known place so you have a visual reference?
 18. Yup, this has worked out well, you've done a great job here.
 19. I don't mind jamming with my band(s) with the purpose of evolving an idea into a song, but random jams with random folk I can't be bothered with to be perfectly honest.
 20. "Support Basschat" tab at the top.
 21. I'm really not the best person to ask
 22.
Thomann have dropped the price on these to £650 brand new free delivery. Only Pelham Blue but that's amazingly cheap for new Gibson.
Forgot to mention - whichever bass leaves my collection to make way for this T-bird also hates you so much right now
 23.
Oh man thats pretty. I like that a lot. Are there 5 string versions?
Not of the GTB/GTS models. According to the G&L website, the 5 string Tribute M-2500 is only available in black/maple or honeyburst/rosewood.
 24.
Would you think a LP bass would suit the schallers like on the RD?
Not really - I shall cite history - there is no historical precident for LP basses (apart from the Signature, but that's a completely different beast and the Double Cut Jr, which is a bit weird and doesn't even look like the Les Paul double cut of old which it pinches the name from) to have large tuners. Even the earliest Les Paul bass (1969-71) had Schaller M4 tuners. So did the Triumph. So does every Epiphone Les Paul bass. And every Gibson Les Paul Double Cut/Money. If you don't like the plastic O ring, and that's the only reason to change, what about these Schaller M4 Lights? http://guitar-parts....ds-M4-Light.htm No plastic O ring I can see, and 40% lighter than regular Schaller M4 tuners.
 25.
No matter where you are in the world, you can get a Gaskell guitar. Don't support guitar companies that disrespect you by not making left handed guitars. Buy, own and play Gaskell guitars. Designed by a lefty, for lefties only.
Hmm, you mean designed mostly by Gibson or Jackson, flipped round by a lefty, for lefties only. The BS of lefty guitar companies indeed.
