1.
Unsurprisingly this has turned into the usual BC 'i don't like it so neither should you' thread.
Which thread are you reading? I've read several positive comments and no commands or diktats. The overwhelming suggestion has been to try one.
 2. Yup, seen it, enjoyed it (although it kinda made me sad at times too - he really doesn't do himself any favours at times, does he?)
 3.
I have been casually looking for a Money bass for a while. What are they like? Can the neck pickup sound tonally like a Grabber?
I suck at describing basses. I like it. I got it because I miss my modded Epi Les Paul. I wanted the small body/long neck ergonomics, and it certainly has that It's got the immediate drop in and play thing that my other TB+ wearing bass has (Gibson IV), just seems to have enough grunt in enough of the mid frequencies to conquer just about anything. Will it sound like a Grabber? I couldn't tell you - I spent literally 2 minutes with a Grabber once, too bad for it I was choosing between it and a G-3 at the time - the G-3 absolutely smoked it for me so I can't even remember how it sounded. So that's my entire tonal reference for a Grabber - not as good as a G-3. Sorry it's not more descriptive than that. Personally, I doubt it will sound like a Grabber. Everything is different - different pickup(s), different construction, different hardware, different wood(s). And yet, to someone's ears it might sound exactly like a Grabber. That didn't help at all, did it?
 4. Ha, he's finally stopped keeping that one to himself. He's keeping the red one though, the crafty devil
 5. I really like my Epiphone Jack Casady signature. Of course, it was made by folks who are looking over their shoulders wondering when the bombs are going to arrive from the north, but they seem to have done a fine job of it in spite of this drain on their attention spans
 6.
If it was my signature model I had been collaborating with Fender to create and it ended up as a Squier, I would go mental . Why does Pino get a Custom Shop model, Tony "used to be only very moderately famous for a short while in the mid-1980's "Franklin get a made in the USA bass, even Nate Mendel gets a made in Mexico effort, and yet I am in the bargain basement with a bass being assembled by former rubber plant farmers on an archipelago somewhere east of Java? That is what I would be asking them.
Is there not something good about your signature model being affordable for young folk starting out? If I had a signature model, I'd want it to be as accessible as possible.
 7. What's wrong with the pots, other than your objection to their size and your perception of their quality?
 8. RE: this show, I've wondered ever since it started - if it's all about the voice, why isn't it on radio?
 9.
I have owned a Tribute L2000 and the pots wore out in no time and had to be replaced.
For balance's sake, I'd like to point out that the only pot I've ever had fail on me in a G&L was in a USA made El Toro. It was broken when I got the bass. Bust track so magic spray didn't help. Of course it was the tricky to find 1MOhm reverse log pot. Both my Tribute L-2000 and M-2000 are doing great. Buy cheap - buy twice - get two basses
 10.
You should play what you want to play, not what others tell you to.
I haven't seen anyone TELL the OP what to do, only offer advice (backed up by experience).
 11. These basses are fantastic, and calling this price keen is an understatement considering it's including the hard case. Get on it people! I would, but I already have one You will look 100% cool playing this bass, but it has a great sound as well and it's super light for all you people who have dodgy backs/shoulders. Gold is the new black. GET IT BOUGHT!
 12.
Hi all, I started to learn a few months back but due to buying a house and life being hectic I have only just started to learn and practice again after 3 months. I currently play on a borrowed bass from my bro in law, but have got some money spare just over 200 quid so thought I'd treat myself to my very own bass. Now I love the idea of acoustic bass guitar and have been looking at my options and what not. I have found this Ibanez sgbe110-vs which sounds good from youtube videos i can find. I don't think anywhere near me stocks these I Am aware of..(not that I have extensive knowledge of music shops near me haha) to have a hold and try what little I know. Anyway, my question is will I find it tough to learn, I am on the basics still, with the acoustic bass? Also has anyone had any experience of others in this sorta price range? Or this particular bass? Thanks in advance, Plampers
I would advise any beginner not to go with an acoustic bass. Ergonomics are more challenging and from my limited experience (I've had a couple - and sold them) they are harder to play in the sense that they require more effort - hence rather off-putting for the beginner. They're harder to set up (bridge saddle filing if you want to lower the action for instance) and aren't that loud acoustically anyway (the Ibanez AEB10E I had was drowned out by a single acoustic guitar). I'd recommend getting an electric bass - an entry level bass and a 20-30W practice amp can be picked up for much less than a GOOD acoustic bass guitar. But it's entirely up to you. Your money, your choice
 13.
I am just loving my newly acquired USA JB-2. Here she is in all her glory.
It's the start of a slippery slope... welcome to the good ship G&L, Hutton
 14. So, um, I've got this black cherry 2007 Gibson Les Paul Double Cut (later model with walnut "tone plate" a la Money bass).
 15. I'm really not the best person to ask.
 16.
Someone help then please Fast neck = A real Players bass =
Fast neck: could possibly mean the lacquer is not sticky/is satin/has been attacked with steel wool, but it's no guarantee that anyone will be able to use it fast A real player's bass: I think it's meant to describe one that, while not necessarily ratty has been used, has some evidence of being used and therefore is more suitable for someone who actually plays the thing rather than a collector. But it does smack of redundant hyperbole, for sure.
 17.
That's really helpful, thanks! What do you mean by 'rig' though?
Rig == amp and associated gubbins. Rig generally implies (to me anyway) separate amp head and cab(s) (speaker cabinet(s)) rather than a combo (all in one amp and speaker(s)).
 18. A bass is either good or it isn't. Only you can decide, and it's got nothing to do with its country of origin.
 19. Maybe so, but consider that we've got more to learn too. In 1951, the electric bass just appeared on the scene in a commercially successful form. A "brand new" instrument. Slap bass as we understand it hadn't been invented (or at least formalised) - Leo thought everyone would play with their thumbs. Early innovators in technique probably just experimented and happened upon something pleasing sounding. And music theory hadn't changed, I'm sure the same dry books we get today on the subject were available in 1951 So there was less to learn back then, because it hadn't been "invented" yet.
 20. I for one have used the miniature Hercules ones (not the Travlite but the other one - GS402 or something) for many years, onstage and in rehearsals without incident, and as for weird shaped basses I have put my RD Artist on one before with a bit of adjusting the bottom bits.
 21.
I`d go with the Gotoh as it is more in keeping with the original Fender bridge.
Shockeroonie!
 22.
Looking very nice Matt. How do you rate it alongside the Jack Casady, more versatile? Peter
I'll have to do a side by side comparison and get back to you!
 23. I look at it the completely opposite way - there's much fun in trying different basses, because apart from a few cosmetic (don't like chrome control plates) and ergonomic (don't like skinny necks) restrictions on my choices, I'm of the opinion that all basses sound like ... me playing a bass. I take a different bass to every rehearsal and gig and I really don't care as long as it sounds good to me and I can hear myself when I play with the band. I am the antithesis of the "you only need 1 bass" school of thought - I'll defend to the death your right to think that way though
