Played it for a laugh at rehearsals a few times, didn't have a pick on me so I used a coin instead, that was convincingly zingy/clanky. Strings probably didn't thank me for it though

Too much choice, that's (relatively) new which neatly torpedoes any chance of a new sub-culture appearing - too many splinter groups, too much stuff out there, the market is flooded and nobody cares. Or at least it's harder to get through to enough people who do care. I don't shout loud enough and I'm not proactive enough to make a success of music, so just as well it's a hobby of mine otherwise I'd probably starve!

Repositioning the bridge is going to be made more difficult because the G&L Saddle Lock bridge has a sizeable route made into the body for a protrusion from the base of the bridge.

Damn, beaten to it. Looks exactly like a BB614 I had a few years back: It's not a BB1024 - it would also have blades on the P pickup, not individual pole pieces, and I'm pretty sure all 424/1024/2024 basses have a plain headstock because they like to show off the 5 piece maple/mahogany(nato on the 424) neck.

Yup, performed the washer trick on a Yamaha BB450 which I resurrected/restored. Must have been a couple of years now with no ill effects. I think I'll play it at band rehearsal tonight

I dunno where to start. None of the options in this poll are applicable to Aberdeen. We're spoiled up here with music venues which have house PA and backline and a separate circuit of pubs which put on cover bands who are expected to come fully equipped. We've never had it so convenient. We get paid peanuts as original bands, but hey ho.

You'd get plus points from me for having an unusual choice of bass on stage. I love a bit of gear spotting but it gets a bit tedious when you see the Nth P or J. Also, considering the basses I own and enjoy, I doubt I'd have ever ventured on stage if I worried about what people think of my choice of bass

You haven't said if you're writing songs. I recently decided to slim things down from 2 bands to one and I stayed with the one i was writing for/with, despite the other one being busier in terms of gigs.

You guys who tweak and twiddle at things DURING a gig, between songs - my hat's off to you. I turn the bass up, use neck pickup where there's a choice, and tweak the amp so that I can hear myself. I can't handle more than that, I'm afraid, I'm too busy remembering what the hell I'm supposed to be playing - and I wrote some of it!

I've only used 'em a couple of times but I've had no issues with them. Took one of their extended warranties on my RedSub combo, but haven't needed to invoke it so can't comment there.

How do they attach to the bass? A clamp with soft jaws or something?
