If you mean "more than a Fender Japan", it probably will be. Not as cost effective to import from USA as it was at the start of the year, unfortunately. Not forgetting that time is money, your time spent building it.

I have no qualms about its use in this context, save for the usual safety considerations whilst actually handling/dispensing the stuff out of the tin.

Oh, and another small idea I think I mentioned a while back but never happened - a seperate forum in the For Sale section for bass/guitar/amp spare parts. I think there's enough trade in these things to warrant the unique place.

Well, unfortunately the answers is "it depends" Budget is one, you've stated you don't want to spend "huge amounts", but one man's "huge amount" is another's small potatoes. A figure would help give you proper advice.

You see from time to time (including in previous incarnations of this very thread) how people would like to see the wiki expanded/made more useful. The wiki only works if people contribute to it. Therein lies a problem - I have anecdotal evidence of people having problems with submitting stuff to the wiki (or simply not knowing how to do it). How about nominating someone officially to look after the wiki, either an existing mod or someone new? People with stuff to submit but aren't sure how to do it (it's not the most intuitive thing in the world if you're not used to tag based markup) could supply the text/pics to this person and they could wiki-ify it for them. Would have added benefit of someone patrolling from time to time keeping the wiki neat and tidy, conforming to a consistent style etc. Just an idea

Perhaps someone with more knowledge will come along and confirm/contradict.

Certainly try changing the battery - you'll need one eventually even if that isn't the problem this time A dead battery in an active bass can cause a lack of output.

On the flip side... I had my first gig a month ago and I'm afraid to say I had to peruse my notes in between every song, and spent most of the time in Quasimodo pose - ie. hunched over my bass staring intently at the fingerboard. To be fair I had only 3 rehearsals with the band prior to the gig. Perhaps in time I'll loosen up. It would be nice to be able to acknowledge that there's an audience
