  1. Well, let us know when the working replacement comes in (whatever it is) and I'll sign you off. I think you're in limbo land right now.
  2. I dunno, buying something that didn't work and sending it back - does it count? Sounds like you bought a beer but didn't drink it. Is a replacement coming?
  3. Another pic unearthed, with brighter lighting on the bass this time. Pit yer tongue awa', min!
  4. I look like a right tit not playing a keytar
  5. The only band I've ever been in that properly broke up was very anti-climactic but pretty jarring - a band meet up in the pub was arranged, guitarist/songwriter/nominal band leader arrived last, told us he didn't want to do it any more, then left. Me, the drummer and the singer had a pint and absorbed the news (or the news was absorbed by the beer?). Band over.
  6. Nope, if it's a wunkay night then it's a wunkay night. I refuse to live in fear of hypothetical drunken bams.
  7. As an ex-G-3 owner disgusted by the price of second hand Gibson examples, my wallet isn't...
  8. I've been let down before, hence my caution. Please, don't fumble this, Epiphone. I heard they were doing a Grabber that you can't grab (no slidling pickup) so when I hear stories like that it gives me concerns.
  9. Picking a bass to play is the same level of decision to me as picking which shirt to wear. I don't chase tones, I don't feel like I have to play bass X for any particular reason other than I want to. I like how all my basses sound and feel, so what is there left to debate beyond the visual? I enjoy the variety, it's not about having a collection for the sake of having it. In all my bass playing time I have owned 58 basses and sold 49. It's fun, I'm having fun. I'm starting to get a judgy feel about this thread. If you believe in having only one good bass, or pay meticulous attention to the minutiae of bass tone then more power to you, you're not wrong. But neither am I. I'd like to bass the way I want to bass, and you're free to do same.
  10. Not long back from a fun afternoon at Ellon Gala. A truck trailer gig, yes - haven't done one in ages! It was dry, was sunny when we arrived but clouded over a little later. Wasn't super busy but part of the reason was that the bar area was away from the stage a bit and folk weren't allowed to take drinks out of the assigned area (licensing reasons, I presume). We heard later that folk in there really enjoyed our set, so that was good. It was just fun to play outside though and I think we did well. Remarkably it went pretty much to schedule, only started 5 mins late and had to chop one song from the set - I'm gonna call that a win! Bass was my Wunkay, through my trusty tone cubes (Markbass Mini CMD 121P IV and New York 121)
  11. No-one. Want is another thing entirely. I want to have multiple basses, I like having multiple basses, I can afford to own multiple basses, I currently have nine and what's it to you anyway?
  12. Ha, you've been on the run for a month and a half, you scamp! Nice way to bow out, great score!
  13. You're all good. If I may quote the appropriate exclusion in the "rules": "Educational purchases, ie tutorial books, lessons, anything that furthers your playing is permitted." Crack on!
  14. Played it at a couple of gigs so far, went down pretty well.
  15. May has been a quiet month - well done to all. Main news I guess is my own downfall, all over the heads of a £40 pedal, oops. 3 more brave soldiers fell in May leaving 25 still standing. Let's see how June treats us.
  16. I am aware. But I do not believe that SBMM would autonomously go ahead and do this without EBMM telling them to do so, hence my props going to EBMM.
  17. Right, is that this FOMO charade over for now then? Gotta hand it to them, well played EBMM.
  18. I'm just happy to get the correct notes in the correct places most of the time. Nor do I have a lot of effects to choose from - just varying degrees of OD and a harmoniser (which does a variety of things, but is mostly used as an auto downtuner, or as an octave doubler - we only have a single guitarist so some songs sound better with me having the octave above) For Wishing Well, it's neck pickup (if there's a choice), tone wound down, OD on, probably at its mildest setting - just want a bit of grit. I dunno how "faithful" that is to the original, but at least it sounds like I paid some attention to it The OD in question is in my Joyo Monomyth, but any appropriately set OD will do the job I reckon. I like OD pedals that have a couple of degrees of severity available at the flick of a switch, punters don't want to see me fiddling with knobs for five minutes between each song. "This is a heavy one" - flick a switch, job done.
  19. Oh I bloody hope this becomes a real thing that I can buy.
  20. Yas, another person not afraid to use a Mojomojo with bass. I salute thee.
  21. I always thought that Markbass were posh/fancy amps. Threads like these make me think that they're actually "world's okayest bass amps"? Well, my limited experience (having only owned five amps total) leaves me with: Tecamp Puma 900 - wonderful amp, super powerful and super easy to dial in an agreeable tone Markbass Mini CMD121P IV + New York 121 - my modular, go-to rig. I run it flat (apart from a degree of Old School), it sounds great. RedSub BT5110 + BFM Omni 10 - my rig for 10+ years, pokey sound, strong mids, great live rig.
  22. And you have to pay tax on that when it arrives. What a con!
  23. Bottom bank of five - standard Strat style options - N, N+M, M, M+B, B (all parallel) Top bank of five - the weird stuff - N+M (series), N+B (parallel), N+B (series), N+M+B (parallel), M+B (series) There is an alternative wiring scheme which replaces the last setting with N+M+B (series) should you prefer that.
  24. Well, I'll play along, although I'm an awkward bugger who has a foot in both camps. I'd rather have the variety of owning many basses. They're as interchangeable as my shirts.
