  1. If it's not a compound radius or an asymmetric profile, then yes, the only difference will be the headstock orientation and the nut reversal.
  2. Merry Christmas to me. Picked it up before work, now am at work for an agonising 8 hours, more later. Also, good to be back in BB land, been a few years!
  3. Nice one. If it's anywhere as good as my Sire D5, you'll be in for a treat.
  4. Very different pickups in almost every way, unfortunately
  5. I guess they'll find out soon enough...
  6. Warman maybe? I've nearly bought some of their stuff in the past, and heard some positive things. https://www.warmanguitars.co.uk/product/p-bass-classic-pickup-8-56kohm-and-5-21-henries/
  7. Further dividing the Sterling by Musicman range, is the number after the "Ray" Ray4/5 - cheapest Ray24/25 - middle Ray34/35 - most expensive Then there are oddbods like the Shortscale Ray which comes in at 24 prices and the Darkray which comes in at its own eyewatering price.
  8. Well, I suppose I should stick my tuppence worth in, seeing as I started it. I'm personally not too fussed for any of this new stuff and will be unlikely to buy any of them - that's principally because they're inspired by basses that don't hold any interest for me. But that doesn't mean I can't see the market potential for these, at the right price. I think they'll do very well in the situation we find ourselves in, where EBMM have turned into a bunch of greedy so-and-sos and hiked up the prices of their SUB/Sterling stuff to frankly eye-watering levels and the Foderas are unobtanium for most mere mortals. All I can say with certainty is that if they put the same effort and time into these new ones as they did with my D5 then they'll tend to be excellent instruments and I wish them every success.
  9. My NBD thread not enough for you, you greedy bugger?
  10. Dinna worry, I'm watching the tracking like a hawk, as soon as it's at the local depot, I'll be down there. Pretty sure I read somewhere that you don't have to wait for the demand, you can just rock up and pay.
  11. Where's your NBD thread then? Hope the contents arrived intact.
  12. Nae luck. Also, I'm nae allowed to see these Facebook pics - are they set to Public?
  13. Oh, nearly forgot - a wifie from the PRS came to our gig and actually came to say hello. First time that's ever happened to me. We handed her a copy of our set list and I think she just naffed off again. Didn't see her at half time or at the end, lol.
  14. Or more accurately, what they're about to do next year... https://sire-usa.com/pages/2024-models Z series - looks like a mashup of a Stingray and a Lakland 44/55-0x to me F series - single cut, Fodera shaped objects? G series - semi hollow confections some extra Vs (Jazz-a-likes) and a full scale U series.
  15. The inquisitive mind got extra inquisitive... I knew that tablecloth would come in useful for something! Modern Neutrik on the left, 20ish year old Neutrik on the right. You can see there's a few mm more clearance between the tip of the jack and the body of the connector and it's all the difference between fitting tightly into the cup jack socket or not.
  16. I don't think they open every single box they send out and plug in test things - I'm sure they'd argue that's the job of the factory, and I'd tend to agree. It is unfortunate to receive a faulty item, but that's the risk you take when buying at distance, and how simply/quickly/efficiently it's dealt with is the yardstick I use to determine whether a company's doing good or not, rather than blaming them for something which should never have left the factory.
  17. Additional, the cup style jack socket might give you trouble with some right angle jacks. Depends on the jack plug. I tried to use an old cable (like super old, probably my first ever cable, it's probably about 20 years old) and the Neutrik on that didn't quite manage to engage fully, would pop out every so often. The Neutriks on the end of my obbm cables - no bother. So maybe Neutrik tweaked the design in the past 20 or so years, idk.
  18. Nice one. I'd like to also report a good experience with Andertons recently. I ordered one of those Soloking basses and the courier tracking went cold and started saying scary stuff like "DISCREPANCY SCAN". I contacted Andertons and they got back to me within the hour and helped me out by telling me some info we don't see, that it was showing for them as "Misrouted", which helped a lot. The following day they got in touch off their own bat to tell me that DHL had confirmed to them that the bass would be out for delivery that day which shows that they were actively keeping an eye on the situation. That was good of them. Bass arrived ok, just took a scenic route via Edinburgh so it looks like a case of "oops, I put that parcel on the wrong truck/van". So, yes, happy with their customer service, very attentive and proactive. Two thumbs fresh.
  19. The arbiter of taste has spoken! This video is invalid!
  20. We did The Darkness "Christmas Time (Don't Let the Bells End)" for a while, but it's a bit of a left field choice and fun though it is to play it wasn't hitting the required spot like a bit of Slade or Shaky.
  21. I'm sure a lot of people haven't. Also, they did say in the video that they'd only just encountered these basses for the first time. I usually scoff at these sort of claims (seriously sceptical about these so-called "reaction" videos) but I think that true this time. Personally, I prefer if they do a bit of research on the product and tell us authorative stuff about it rather than chin stroking maybes, but hey if I'm not happy then I can always make my own video about it. I'm not going to make my own video.
