  1. That is the bridge pickup's official purpose on an SB-2. Nice for a bridge pickup to have a purpose for a change
  2. Maybe update the guest list with people who have committed to pay highlighted in bold or something?
  3. I started too late to even think about "making it" - no-one beyond the Dog and Duck wants to see this fossil make a tit of himself with a bass guitar
  4. Was aimed at Mr. Rosewood earlier in the thread...
  5. Just thinking aloud, but will anyone be in/around Taunton the night before the bash, and if so, fancy a pre-bash pint somewhere?* * assuming I haven't fallen into my hotel room and fallen asleep immediately
  6. A bit of a trek for me but FWIW I'd have been right up for this if I was nearby. You're in a plum spot near a rather large conurbation, I'm sure you'll find a willing tutor. Best of luck.
  7. Nice, glad you got it sorted. This sort of thing is easily done when the saddles can all fall out en masse if you remove all the strings.
  8. That's a more pleasant reason Still keeping it kinda Gangsta with the Epiphones, I guess.
  9. Yeah, sold all my Gibsons a few years back - had my own mini financial crisis - I moved house.
  10. Saddles in the wrong order - they often have numbers on them to show which order they should be in. In the case of my Epiphone Jack Casady, they're numbered G = 1 D = 2 A = 3 E = 4 And they're in height order, A is the highest, E should be lower than A but slightly higher than D and G should be the lowest.
  11. Time to update the sofa shot... Changes since last time - Sire D5, Epiphone Korina Explorer, white pearl pickguard on the LB-100.
  12. This was my original plan when I got a G&L Tribute LB-100 to turn it into a poor man's SB-1, but I ended up liking the stock pickup enough that I couldn't be bothered changing it. They are monstrous though - I had a Tribute SB-2 a few years back, and it used to get mistaken for being an active bass by sound engineers...
  13. We get it, you like rosewood. Well these basses don't have it, so don't buy one, job done, you can leave now.
  14. I did the same to the edge of the truss rod cover of my Epi Les Paul bass - the white edge just wasn't gelling with the whole black and gold theme.
  15. Nope, it's a lazy, indolent, decadent layabout that demands to be driven around.
  16. It's not silly at all - test fitting the Explorer in the front seat was as much preparation for the upcoming road trip as it was the general practicality of getting the damn thing to rehearsals/gigs!
  17. They do appear to be co-ax, yeah. They're not that thin close up, certainly a lot thicker than individual pickup wires. A lot of wire involved in a pickup switch AND individual volumes - probably turns it into a very fancy antenna. I haven't got as far as removing the pickups yet.
  18. Well, surprise, surprise, this bass also loathes our rehearsal room. Time to get the copper tape out once more! Then I lifted the pickguard and my patience evaporated. Yeah, I'll come back to this
  19. For the Jazzers... https://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_sq_40th_jazz_bass_sfg.htm
